Had a G&G GR16 CRW for about a year now but wanting to start going to woodland sites a bit more now, but need to up the range and accuracy a bit to start competing!! (I'm s*** anyway hahahha).

Looking to put a new hop up bucking or maybe whole thing, no idea if the standard ones any good

Then put a new longer inner tight bore barrel on it with mock silencer to cover it up but can barely find any on uk websites (loads on American ones for a lot cheaper)

Wondering what you can recommend I buy and how difficult/easy it is to fit these or whether it would be worth having someone a lot smarter than me do it. I'm looking for something mid-high range (nothing to flashy or tacky!) cheers!

 
The best range and accuracy upgrade anyone can do to their aeg is a tightbore barrel, 455mm-509mm being optimum, then pairing it with a r-hop. You can get it from airsoftworld or airlab. It can be a slow process filing it to perfectly fit your barrel window but believe me the results are dramatic. Afterwards, just put on a bucking with the best air seal as the rhop patch will apply the backspin.

I will probably be starting a tech service soon offering these kind of installations...

 
300mm is nice, I recommend either a modify hybrid or a madbull. Prommy if you can spend a bit more.

Best way to tell the suitability of a mock suppressor, is measure your current flash hider. That measurement currently covers your stock barrel. So whatever you add to the barrel, you add to the measurement of the flash hider to get the required length for the mock suppressor.

R hops are tideous, but the rewardsaregreat. With the r hop installed, i recommend a silicon based bucking as they seal really well. I think madbull do one.

Since they've been mentioned, can someone explain to me what the R-Hop mod actually is?

 
before you go and spend money on the r hop just be aware there mixed reviews some people swear by them others say there no different to a normal hop unit and seeing as your new to this sort of thing i would say best bet is to go for a standerd hop unit i.e madbull ultimate metal hop chamber, as for inner barrel length remove about 20mm from the length of the suppressor and that will tell you the extra length you will have for you new inner i.e

(suppressor -200mm - 20 = 180mm then add that to you stock inner 180mm + 168mm = 348mm

madbull blck python's are more than fine for an upgrade i have the 363mm version 2 6.03 in my g&g raider and range didnt really increase due to it being the same length but my groupings got tighter by a little bit.

changeing a stock hop unit for a new one is'nt that hard at all and theres hundreds of vids showing you how to on you tube. or theres the forums :)

Basically it involves using an enlarged hop up patch in the barrel 'window' to apply more hop, I think :P

People report ridiculous ranges at relatively low fps' using heavy rounds.

any will do mate all they have inside is sections of foam your bog standered £20 unbranded one would do.

 
Okay is it worth getting a whole new hop unit or are g&g stock ones good enough? Heard they're alright but wondering if there'll be any noticeable difference with a new one

 
Nah I'd save your money mate, the minimal benefits of changing hop units (unless the stock is extremely bad, which G&G doesn't) is easily out-weighed by costs. Not really worth it.

 
Think I've finally decided on a prommy 285 or 363mm barrel and hop bucking. However been reading round and some people are saying that with significantly increasing barrel size (363 would be double my stock one) I'd need a different cylinder to match the barrel.

What I'm asking is would any, either or both of these require a different cylinder? Thanks

 
Yep you heard right, different length barrels require different volumes of air out of the cylinder. If you look on firesupport.co.uk, you'll find prommy cylinders with their recommended barrel sizes. I send you to this particuloar website as they have the best user friendly labelling of their cylinders.

Just wondering has anyone tried ehobby Asia? They're still quite a bit cheaper after customs chargers etc and have a lot more choice, would be able to order everything from one place etc, but wondering whether it's worth it?

 
Ehobbyasia and airsoftclub are 2 HK retailers I can vouch for. You'll get it within 2 weeks no matter what the order.

 
as long as ehobby don't mess your order up you're fine.

With regards to the R-Hop, I wouldn't really say they're too great.

I ordered a set of 3 from airlab or something, and they were all slightly different sizes (diameter and curve), so only one actually fit the barrel.

Once I fit it, it over-hopped everything in my M16 (shooting ~320 FPS), apart from 0.40s, which obviously didn't have enough range.

I filed it down a lot, and it didn't really make any difference, apart from that it would shoot 0.36s straight.

After more filing, it became loosely fit, so would randomly every BB differently.

Would say they're of more use in a sniper, would have tried it in mine, but only one fit the barrel, and I had already tested that on my M16.

 
Ahh ok well I've made an order with them so shall see how it goes! Say 3-5 working days plus customs, really anytime before a week on Saturday will do as I'm planning on going again on the Sunday so fingers crossed I guess!

I've read loads of mixed reviews regarding the r-hop, maybe something ill look into next time it comes round to making an order.

As for now I've ordered a prommy 6.03 363mm barrel, prommy hop bucking (soft), 220mm silencer (rubbish one that'll do the job), and a type C cylinder! Here's hoping they'll do the job! :D
