Project: JG G36E -> MG36 - Sorta done.

Had a quick test. No hop. Need to take a look later.

Sound activated drum mag - only 1400 rounds though.  I've tried looking for a sound activated version of the 2500 round mag but could only find the push button version so bought that, now considering buying a cheap pressure switch so that it's less fiddly, unless I can find a wiring diagram to build a sound activation circuit.

When I modded my SRC G36 after it broke I ended up using a combination of upgrade and original parts (kept the shells, selector plate, tappet plate, trigger, nozzle and hop unit), I tried a different hop but couldn't get the damn thing to feed properly either.  I'm considering trying the Airsoftpro one that you've used so I'm following your progress with interest.

For it to be an MG36 it needs to be a dual drum C-Type mag.

Just managed to sort out the hop unit and seems to feed fine on the second trigger pull. Need to bed in the rubber but seems to be running ok!

BTW, this is my third AirsoftPro equipped G36 type rifle. I have then installed on my SRC XM8, JG SL8 and now this. If there is any criticism is that the plastic nub holder is not tall/deep enough and I tend to use the one that comes on the stock hop up so I can get maximum hop effect if needed.

Great units though!

I think it might have been you that pointed me towards the AirsoftPro one in the first place! ?  I'll bear in mind what you say about the nub holder though, when I get round to buying one I'll have a fiddle around with it before installing it and see how well it works, might have to find a way to extend it slightly.

What you're doing here is really interesting, most people just post "this is what I did to my gun", this is more like the journey to building something awesome and personal, glad to be along for the ride.

Had to get the Dremel out to enlarge the bolt holes for this G36 side rail as well as the area above to take the screw heads. The original bolt pattern was too wide.

Without going real steel hand guard there is no other way to attach side rails to the G36E without modifying the hand guard or body itself. Good enough for a torch!

A dab of black paint and no-one will know the difference, really neat work!

MG36 project has now been completed with the addition of the C-Mag auto winding magazine. Had to take it apart twice already to look at how it works and how to unjam if needed. Hopefully will be using this on the field soon!

Did you manage to find a sound operated C mag in the end?

Yes I did. Grabbed an A&K one from Italy. Battery was DOA but had some spare ones with the right connector.

You're certainly putting a lot of business the way of the Italians - was it an offer you couldn't refuse?? ?

(sorry)

There’s something business like about an uncluttered assault rifle (no bells/whistles or any other frippery bolted on to it) , M16A2 , L1A1 , AK 47 and your G36 that just says “You got a job to be done ? No problem !” ?

Absolutely! Though there is something to be said to get the laser and llm03 module for the two rails. ?

I wouldn't mind a RDS considering how bad the eye relief is on the scope.

It's a BB hose first and foremost.

Screw it. I also want the AG36 nade launcher!

BUT the LLMO3 is the correct light to mount on it so almost say it’s not covered by the ‘keep it clean’ caveat ? ?

It's pretty heavy enough as it is! If it's not enough of a BB hose I can get some 40 Mike's ?
