Patrol Base

Nope a novice, kind of wishing I'd put my mobile number on the tag now, that's a damn good idea

Bought a nuprol hard case from them on Monday, arrived Tuesday using they’re next day service. First time using them and have been impressed with their pricing and will def use them again for future purchases.

Well ,Wednesday update .....nothing back from them yet...will give them till the end of play tomorrow and then I'll start chasing them up?

How can I put this

Patrol base = an unmitigated shit show

If I went into detail this post would take me all night

In brief

Five phonecalls four of which were me chasing up after they promised to get back to me and didn't

Gun eventually returned "repaired"

From the workshop test form

On inspection the customer has used very poor quality bb's (BULLSHIT)

This has damaged the hop rubber and looks like the cause for over loading the mosfet with the gun jamming up

(Remember the MOSFET bit it's relevant further on)

The motor was also in bad condition and needed replacing as it had lost all power

The gun is now in working order FPS is 310 on .2 blaster bb's

On unpacking the gun realising the front end was still as loose as it was when returned and reading the notes I was well and truly fkd off

I then decided to have the gun inspected by an independent technician,

I contacted Negative Airsoft a tech from Reading (local to me ) and dropped the gun off to him giving him a brief of inspecting the repair work carried out and if possible tightening up the front end, he video's all work and updates via WhatsApp (brilliant service) .If you can be arsed to look he put up a video on his YouTube channel "Negative Airsoft" detailing the findings and subsequent work I had carried out

I emailed Patrol base to confirm exactly what had been done and what had been replaced.

The workshop manager replied

The hop rubber, motor are all new (watch the video)

I have serious doubts any repair work was carried out other than ramming a rod down the barrel to unblock it

The brand new hop rubber had a hole in it

Had anyone opened the gun up they might have noticed it hasn't got a  MOSFET ,

And as for the loose front end

(This one's fantastic) he got another one out of stock to compare and that one was loose as well so therefore not deemed a fault ,as all the fixings where tight. The same gun was bought by my mate the week before I got mine and his is flex free,

Lastly I questioned why my dustcover is not the same as advertised or on my mates gun,

His reply was It was the cover supplied by the manufacturer

I have contacted the manufacturer MOS and they have confirmed it's not one of theirs, and I should press the issue with patrol base and keep them informed of developments

Next stop is contacting patrol base's owner .

So would I recommend patrol base  it's a definite NO from me

So......

Things I took from that video;

1) PB seem to have lied through their teeth to you..... and a case could easily be made for them refunding you.
2) Luke really is underwhelmed by Arcturus AKs.

Wow, this one?

That barrel though...

How can PatrolBase not have noticed that?

Chancing rogues.

Yes Roger , thanks for putting that up,I didn't have a clue how to do that?

If the hop rubber had been changed like patrol base claim the tech could not have failed to see the state the barrel was in ,and it would have been a two minute job to tighten up the barrel .

The hole in the hop rubber and the still loose barrel lead me to the conclusion that somebody couldn't be arsed to do their job and opted to bullshit the customer instead

This ain't over

I hope it's not, they shouldn't be shrugging that one off.  For one thing, if they don't have to eat the costs of replacing... urgh... that barrel then they won't push back on Arcturus to sort themselves out.

I do love the features that they put in that gun, it's just a damn shame that they failed on the QC.

The comments on the YouTube video suggest the barrel issues may not be an isolated case .The shoddy service and sheer bullshiting that's gone on are all down to patrol base .

The worrying thing is had the barrel assembly been tightened up I would have assumed the gun was in good order and not double checked the repair job with an independent tech. How many other "repair" jobs have had the same treatment?

Patrol Base do seem to get very mixed reviews. They are one of my local shops, though I do err on the side of caution. I've personally had mostly good experiences with them barring a faulty brand new G&G I got last year. My local site and a few players from there have a very low opinion of them though to put it politely and I've heard a few stories where they come off less than favourable. I'm a self employed mechanic running my own garage, so I certainly know what its like trying to please everyone, its impossible. And sometimes shit just happens with cars as it does with airsoft guns and most other things. I have heard enough negative stories about Patrol Base though to certainly advise caution if/when using them as it does seem they sometimes fob customers off and cut corners to say the least. Even shops and techs with glowing reviews will have the occasional customer who for whatever reason are dissatisfied, Patrol Base though have more than I'd be happy with we're it my business.

I loath taking people to task , however take the piss to the extent patrol base have and well ,let's just say they now have my full attention.

When mistakes happen it's best practice to apologize and make good, the guys at patrol base obviously in this case have so far opted for a different strategy , unfortunately they're shit at this as well.

I will fire off an email to one of the owner's and see what the response is .......I will keep you posted ?

Well, quite.

It's not their fault that they received that gun from Arcturus.

But there is no excuse for not spotting that horror show of a barrel when it was sent back, and blaming the issues on poor quality BBs is an absolute rogue's trick.

How could they possibly tell that, and how could a customer possibly refute it?  And who buys a £260 gun then feeds it crappy BBs?  Where would you even buy crappy BBs these days?

Nah, they've messed that one up good and proper.

The best thing they could do now, with that video out there, is to stop digging, apologise, and make it right.

Reckon they will?

I completely agree, the faulty gun in the first place isn't really their fault. To bullshit a customer how they did though and not notice or resolve issues such as the barrel is totally unacceptable. Can't actually believe a gun was sold with a barrel in that state. Makes you wonder how many other customers are getting the same sort of treatment.

@Luke85 @Rogerborg, There's no excuse for the barrel..... but the fact their tech stated he checked the (blatantly not fitted) mosfet is imo absolutely a fucking damning indictment of both their tech's skill and integrity.

Well their getting one last chance to rectify the situation,a detailed emails going off to one of the owner's probably tonight. The manufacturer MOS, and the distributor Arcturus tactical, are aware of the situation with the dustcover and have confirmed it's not one of theirs and shouldn't be on the Rif. They have requested I keep them informed of developments with the retailer.

It's up to them really,

put it right or

blitzkrieg by bad press

I'll be honest ,I'm not holding my breath

@Andyglaister If it was me writing that email I'd include a link to the Negative Airsoft youtube vid in it. The fact that Luke is well known in the airsoft community and doesn't have any skin in the game should hopefully help reinforce to the owner how bad his staff have fucked the pooch on this.

That's the plan ?

The only good thing to come out of this mess is finding Luke ,the guy's a legend
