I've taken a long hiatus from airsoft since my team dissolved (I'm not on speaking terms with them, but I am not going to talk about that as I don't want to badmouth anyone) I feel as though my passion died for the sport following that. Has this happened to anyone on here? How do you get up from that?

P.s. I may be selling all my comms equipment as I do not want to be a part of or start another team in this game. I feel like a fucking idiot for having the team anyway.

Hey. ?

I can relate in a way!

(Limited contact, if any with the others, left on my own terms, keeping my "HONOUR" for the sport!)

When I first got into Airsoft, I met a few regulars and got along with them and they invited me into their team! Went well for a few months and tried to get a few of my friends on to the team. Eventually it led to conflicts of who was on the team, what events we would do, ideas for the group, etc.

It's the Leader or Follwer Syndrome!

One guy didn't like where it was going ("The Leader"), felt threatened, put his foot down and had his friends back him up (The "Follwers", friends weren't the problem)!

So in the end I left with my friends, kept it civil, kept my head up and moved on!

"The Leader", then offered a chance to join them for skirmish, which never happened, with certain responses back which were weak!

I don't know if they are still Airsofting....

The Morale of this incident is it DIDN'T STOP ME from Enjoying this Sport!!!

  1. They LOST a good team player!
  2. They TRIED to carry on as if there was no problem!
  3. I MOVED ON and became an even better player!
  4. I had RISEN ABOVE them!
  5. WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO, like you said in the topic, because of PASSION
My advice:

Is get back out there on the field, sooner rather than letter!

Doesn't matter if you go solo or with other friends!

Avoid the BAD players!

Everyone playing there (SHOULD) be playing for FUN, having a GREAT TIME and the BANTER

WOW I can't believe I've written this all.... MUST BE MY PASSION!!! ?

?GAMBLE?

P.S.

DON'T be so quick to get rid of your gear!

HOPE this helps you and gets you motivated back into it....

This is why when new members or new players, whether they're looking for a team to join or looking to start a team, post as such on the forums, I & many others try to dissuade them, instead recommending they approach it from another angle.

Dont get me wrong, teams can be great fun, I was a member of a well respected team, great bunch of guys & we had many superb games & events, as well as plenty of social meet ups, but eventually the pressures of life & other commitments meant the team slowly dissolved.

Teams are a bit like friendships, force them together & they won't work, initially they'll meander along until you realise that, for many reasons, you actually don't get on as well as you'd originally thought, in airsoft the most common issue is probably cheating or overly aggressive behaviors from one or more team members that ends up getting the whole team a bad name.

This can be further compounded if you all generally play at the same local sites, so if the team breaks up acrimoniously, you run the risk of bumping in to them regularly.............awkward ?.

I, & others here, always recommend teams become a natural progression, kinda built up over time where people quite literally get to know each other & their playing styles etc, before actually committing to calling yourselves a team by agreement, same goes for recruiting more players, without a gradual vetting process it's very easy to get saddled with a psycho who's gonna destroy your hard work.

Sorry to hear you guys have suffered the shit side of teams, but glad to see you haven't quit altogether, good thing is on the whole airsofters are a very welcoming bunch, so going solo to new sites etc isn't as daunting as some might feel.

keep pew pewing ??

Lies. You and the missus share a wardrobe. We’ve all seen you galavanting around in your silk Pyjamas ,I think @Ryat has video evidence!

I'll keep the camo gear, guns, and other stuff. But i think i will sell my comms, i don't need them and it is one less thing to worry about when setting up.

This is great. For a moment I thought you were one of those motivational speakers off of LinkedIn.

This thread is why I have developed such an apathy to parts of the community.

The idea of teams is great as long as it stays just mates having a laugh as the camaraderie side of it is a good thing. The problem is some people take the team and airsoft itself too seriously. When you are falling out with people over a team issue in airsoft that is pretty fucked up.

I think some of the worst types gravitate towards teams as a fair proportion of the people I have had to deal with that had ridiculous egos have been team types. When you have to have words with a 40yr old for moaning at a kid for not taking it seriously and then had repeated issues with his team barking orders at people all day you really start to take a dim view of those types.

So the idea of teams is great but too often they are just a meeting point for some seriously off people.

If it is no longer fun what is the point?

@Marauder211 I enjoy playing with my team, tbh they are some of my closest friends who just happen to have an interest in airsoft. That said I do also enjoy going to random sites solo or with 1 or 2 others rather than a "team" game. I'd tend to keep your comms available as some weekend games etc I've gone to have had organised comms set ups for the teams involved and its not actually a bad thing to keep the command channel running even if you don't transmit on it.

The most important thing is to enjoy what we do. You may find like minded airsofters who enjoy “teaming up” but is not a team.  Works for me.

Keep playing and leave those chumps behind!

I like to think we are mercenaries.

Just keep playing. You will find new people.

When I moved into the UK I lost my team, dare I say my status in the AS community I had and had to start from zero. It felt bad. But then I found new things and people here.

My 'passion' has wavered a few times over the years, in fact until next week it'll have been over a year since I've played-though largely due to spending a lot of that period starting a new job. It's happened a few times since I started way back when.

Some of it comes from getting a bit tired of it from time to time, sometimes you need a break from the people you go with, sometimes you just need to do something else for a bit.

That said, I always end up coming back to it.

On the team side of things, my advice is always the same: don't bother, they all end up the same and that's usually disbanded with members no longer on speaking terms. Normally someone thinks they're the team or wants to take charge or something and it all goes tits up, been through that and it's just a lot of drama over nothing in reality. Just find some friends and play with them, simple as that.

I don't know why it always happens, but it always seems to go that way

I'll shed some light on the topic. The team started off as us wanting to do the milsim side of airsoft. But then a couple guys decided that they would go to the competitive side and took the whole team with them. That is the jist of it and it left me feeling really bitter because of the way it happened, i won't say anymore on it other than this. I always oromoted helping new players, and good sportsmanship among team mates, we weren't perfect by any means but we didn't stand around barking orders at everyone. I hope this helps in some way.

As I stated some people.

Simple fact is the biggest problem in airsoft is those that forget it is all about having fun and act too serious and often get stroppy. This is why I always am weary of the whole team thing as those types of people invariably gravitate towards the team thing.

I have met lots of good people who are a team in as much as mates who just join together but in the so called organised teams you will generally find a couple who lose the spirit of airsoft and act like pratts. While I am sure that most are okay unfortunately only the bad ones stick in the mind.

Airsoft by it's honour based nature can bring out the best in some people unfortunately a toy gun and camo brings out the worst in others.

Teams for milsim is understandable but then it all needs dialling back for normal skirmishes.

I just want to say sorry if i cam across as defensive. I agree with what you are saying entirely. It's why i will never go down the competitive route with this sport. After having this happen i have said that i will never join or start another team, i got rid of my team patch and now i only rock full MTP if i do a milsim op (which i don't have the money for anyway). When i find the balls to go back to it i'll stick my normal way of helping new players and meetkng new people. I think i lost my way when i started the teams anyway.

No buddy you were all good and no need to say sorry ever.

We all have different opinions and viewpoints, I won't apologise for mine and don't expect others to apologise for theirs as we are people not sheep.

Airsoft is a bit shit tbh
