I’m new to forum and new to airsoft and looking at going to the site in melton Mowbray end of July (26th) just wondering anyone would be down there and happy to buddy up with me or help me get use to game

If you haven't already done so, I'd check the site rules before you to there and pay close attention to the host/marshal's safety briefing/

Such an underrated piece of gear. I have full-length combat boots and never once hurt my ankle. My friend played 2 weeks ago and sprained his ankle badly as he had trainers on.
Eye Pro and Boots are both things that should never be cheaped out on.
Ankle support is for winners
A close second is the right kind of sole
General purpose combat boots, walking boots or even workwear boots for the average site with uneven terrain, tree roots etc
Perhaps cleated on good turf, but beware of changing ground. Not only could cleats slide all over hard ground but many have soft / flexible soles that then feel like your feet are being stabbed on the wrong surface
Changeable ground such as concrete, wooden floors / bridges etc can become major slip hazards if the sole won’t grip. Some boots have hard treads which won’t grip anything but mud and grass.

I got my boots from this guy on ebay: Clicky. Boots are the one thing that will make or break your day (aside from cheating and gun breakages but that's out of your control) so invest in decent one's that fit well and some nice merino wool socks.
The chaps on here are very knowledgeable about boots and will recommend you decent one's that will last and be comfortable to wear all day long in all conditions and terrains

To clarify Punisher's comment about eye pro, you can get suitable eyewear for a very reasonable price if you're not borrowing a mask with rental gear. Under no circumstances should you buy eye pro from Ali Express or Temu. There are lots of fakes out there and products labelled for airsoft but they're not safety rating compliant. It's not worth the risk there. Even Amazon Marketplace and eBay are sites you should be wary of for the same reason with unscrupulous or ignorant sellers.
Airsoft or military surplus retailers (some are on eBay but check the details of the shop) are your safest bets along with direct sales channels of the manufacturers.
