New to Airsoft help needed :)

I would also stay away from anything from Ares, except the Umarex branded G36's, which Ares manufacture.

JG G36's have a good rep, but I'd not buy anything else from them.

CYMA AK's are excellent, their M14's are good, but I've never heard or read anyone raving about how good anything else they make is. That said, they make MP5's and they would make a reasonable platform for upgrades, if that is the gun you're after.

Double Eagle shotguns are supposed to be good, but yeah, their AEG's are P'sOS

I have a CYMA MP5, and it's great if you put in a tightbore and a new hop up unit. If you get one, I strongly advise you NOT to touch anything else on it, they perform fine. Oh and get a decent battery with it, the one that comes in the box is pants.

You may be right. I had heard it was Ares, but I haven't searched out the info for myself.
They ARE S&T. They are a company that bought out all the ARES designs and manufacture them to be slightly cheaper.

The Umarex G36 series came out first, with ARES bringing out their own which doesn't have the trades, but have ironed out all the kinks that the Umarex ones had.

Although i still claim the S&T ones are pretty good, bar the first batch which had a few lemons in.

Yeah, Tariq, as you know I cconsidered the Ares and Umarex when i bought my G36KV, but with the problems I've had with my L1A1 i just couldn't do it! I spose I can just relax and blanket rubbish Ares from now on then, since they don't actually make the Umarex and i don't know anyone who has an Ares G36 and likes it enough to say so!

Hi All,

We just want to say a massive thank you to everyone whos commented on this thread in the last week all the info has been brilliant and we cant wait to go to our first skirmish!!

Thank you!!

CoxyMK5 & DazMK5

JG can be alright, umarex is simply a licensing company though.

With regards to the gun.; again not one I'd choose for my first gun. But not bad.

I'd get an AEG for your first gun, like I said before CYMA and G&G are your best options as they are decent for starter guns and very cost effective.
