Mk16 13.5” Rail: Outer barrel combo

Looking for my outer barrel to pretty much sit flush with the end of the rail to have a seemless gap. 

Sidenote: I have the intension of changing the inner barrel already due to upgrading. Any recommendations of what length of outer will give the finish I desire + the inner barrel length to match for the best performance

I want to know if the 14.5inch barrel is measure from one end to the other. Or if it is 14.5inch from once it's in the receiver?

From my understanding if you want to run a QD suppressor like the KAC style one pictured. You will have to run a 14.5inch.
