Melee Choices for the Battlefield

I've mentioned this before but Op-Tactical sites and Tac House Spartan (and ex Op Tac site) attract some awesome melee weapons. I have a pair of sai, one guy has an infamous samurai sword that he uses so devastatingly it's made it's way in to safety briefings, there's a guy with a rubber wrench and I've seen a foam hammer of Thor on a bungee cord, a sword of omens from Thundercats and a load of lightsabers.

My favourite ever melee kill at Tac House was a Google knife kill. The guy didn't have a melee weapon so he Google image searched for knife pictures, tapped someone on the shoulder with his phone and whispered in his ear "Google knife kill." I bloody love that place.

Someone else plays Day:Z! That axe is awesome haha

Yes, you would love to be hit by a pink, greasy dildo which will bend much further than 30 degrees.

I wonder what the reactions of other people would be.... "AWWWWWWWW SHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!"
Be a great introduction to the hobby for new starters:

"Did you enjoy it? What happened?"

"I watched a group of grown men dressed like soldiers chase each other with dildos."

"..."

All you need is a gas mask and you've got yourself a master level apocalypse loadout.

My current loadout is all DayZ based, checked shirt, khaki trousers and a baseball cap :D

Am just waiting for a mate to make me a brown leather chest holster for the revolver and it'll be complete.

I use a rubber M9 as a bayonet on then end of my R4 and before that I had a cold steel knife taped to it.

I've gotten a kill with it and its just a simple prod in the plate carrier, probably safer than the end of the barrel. Never had any complaints about it and the M9 bends a lot. As long as your sensible and controlled then anything is fine to be used.

As for the "tap on the shoulder will do" point, most people don't airsoft because it "will do" many people strive for realism and also just trying to do things that are cool!(eg PT's DayZ loadout)

I have Combat-Ted The Battle-Beefeater-Bear. Marshall at the site I used to play would allow it as a valid weapon provided I didn't throw it at people too hard.

I really want to take my fencing sabre one day and do a WWI style loadout with a revolver and a sword. i just don't think its practical... or something people who don't know me would take kindly to.

I've got a proper spartan helmet and my dad's mates a larger so were tryingn to get hold if a leaping spartan shield, only thing then is a cold steel gladiator sword and I will be all set for fun

Cold Steel swords are solid mate, don't think you'll get away with one

Most sites allow them but obviously you cant go slapping people with them

I just had a brilliant idea for a cqb game, two teams, one armed, the other with modelling balloon swords, the armed team have to pop the balloon and the sword team just need a mele kill. Could be a laugh!

I met two people at NAE12 carrying bokkens. I spose it depends on the site and whether you are trusted by the marshals not to be a tit with whatever you carry.

I almost got a melee kill with a lightsaber on May 4th @MCG The Gaol. Never been even close to getting one with my Cold Steel trainer. My fav though...

...I've recently taken the lace off it.
To paint the grip with some layers of varnish to make it look wood-ish. Need to get round to finishing that and getting some 10mm OD webbing to wrap the grip katana stylee.

I must admit its good fun using a melee weapon, I've had my weapons fail on 4 occasions and sneaking around with a knife or something feels much better than just open hands.

One of my first outings as DREDD I actually forgot to bring the specialised batteries to power the pistol, basically went out with a foam baton and a riot shield, ended up chasing a group of guys who had a great story to tell lol.

I am desperate to get one of these http://www.thevikingstore.co.uk/larp-dark-moon---chainsword-2563-p.asp
