Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread

https://www.usedairsoft.co.uk/rif-s/electric-powered/andy-mcnab-ltd-edition-umarexvfc-am-22-aeg_i86615

Ahhhhh yes. Lets take a run of the mill AEG, give it a shit paint job, chuck some shite mags in and a cheap Chinese red dot, get it signed by an ex special forces soldier who was never issued the real version of the weapon (If you squint it looks like an HK416) and slap a huge price on it

Aware these had a high RRP but still baffles me

Tempting, but think I'll pass on this one
Tbf, I don’t think this gentleman’s advert deserves to be in this thread. I’ve bought from him before and at a very fair price. Great gentleman to deal with.

Yeah, I have bought a couple off him in the past. Good dude and usually has good prices too I actively look for his listing's

I've bought from him too. Guns were brand new, as described, arrived quickly and cheaper than anywhere else. No complaints about him personally.

It does seem a little Mack’s in my opinion. I agree he’s got a good rep on here. But it’s only a matter of time before we all end up on here 🤣

They were £500 new. Only came in black. He’s rattle canned it (which in my view devalues it). If he did a good job of stripping the paint off, or if he’d left it black, there’d be an argument that £500+ was fair, as it’s 1 of 1000 with a unique serial number.

Irrespective of whether members have been happy with their deals with him, many, me included, have questioned the validity of his ads.

Such as claims the goods are new, but no warranty is given, & according to the forum rules, retailers/dealers aren't allowed, & all items are to be considered secondhand.

As for his prices, they've often been shown to be equal to, or even higher than rrp, even though he'll try to claim otherwise.

Been there with that seller…

I was bursting to get a GHK sg553 a couple of years ago, and he had one

Priced at not much less than retail

I just couldn’t give him my money, but patience paid off

I got the very gun he was selling then, a month later , from one of his “mates” at £150 cheaper

I always say patience is a virtue and if it's for you it won't go past you

I've got to put this one in before someone else does.

Yes, it's old. Yes it's not commonly seen anymore.

But no way could you really say it's £800 worth of rare. 🙃

That depends, if its still got the original wobbly/flexy front end, great for shooting around corners, that'll push its rarity value up 😜.

There's a reason they're not seen anymore, its because they, & the competitors variants, all got a lot better.

Just because its an xm177, I'd say £200, merely because its niche for 'nam loadouts etc, but i wouldn't want to run it as a regular primary⏳💣

His posts and the reply in another thread about these make it even funnier

Anyone else want to know what shop told him it's worth that much? Maybe they'll buy some of my old crap for silly money

Sorry, but do old Airsoft guns hold any value like that?

For £800 I'd want more than an old, bland rifle ngl, especially when I could just get one that looks the same for like <£100

I mean, I collect RIFs as well as skirmish, but I don't specifically try to get older models, just the platforms I like the look of. RIFs just don't strike me as that kind of collectible (if you get what i mean).

The limited edition Tokyo Marui rifles are quite collectable. The XM177 isn't one of them as it was a normal run AEG back in the day. Have a look at the GOLGO 13, Burns M653, AK Spetsnaz or any of the resident evil pistols.

The Burns rifle is an interesting one. It came in 2 flavours, fixed or sliding stock and the story goes it was released after the movie Platoon and was meant to be the main character "Barnes" rifle but somewhere along the line someone messed up the translation. The AK is just a AK Beta Spetsnaz without a stock but this was released at a time when there wasn't 500 Chinese clones.
