Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread

@Tackleif we are going to apply the letter of the law, how about we apply the rule on no shops/professional sellers? Its obvious this guy is trying to operate as one not a legitimate private seller selling some of his gear/RIFS

TL;DR

Stop being cunts
I can get much more cuntish, this isnt even alpha level lol

Have i not seen your final form

We can't police the forums and then Google every price according to the adverts posted here, we have jobs and lives

We're also adults and Google has been about since 1998, we can't hold everyone's hand

If I'm buying something second hand I always Google it, people should too
There are thousands of members doing the policing to bring up potential offenders.  So shouldn't take too much time to deal with.  (Or should there be more moderators)

Yes, of course most of us can spot a dodgy advert but if they go completely unchecked the Classifieds section could turn into a farce and lose the reputation of a serious place to deal with sales/purchases.

I've given my 2p so I'll leave it at that

think the way i'd put it is that in macks, the seller has to come in here and actively engage the criticism.

sometimes they come in and engage respectfully, even meshing with the banter, and everyone has a good time.

sometimes they come in and try to fight, and get ripped on, and everyone but them has a good time.

but mostly they just ignore the thread entirely.

commenting on the sales post gives them nowhere to run, and as much as i agree that it makes the criticism more directly accessible for a buyer at risk of being ripped off, at the end of the day if a buyer does any kind of due diligence they'll either find the macks post or simply other information (eg ads, even completed ones, with different prices), and is it really our responsibility to guard people who won't take any steps to guard themselves?

If you get butt hurt when people call you out for ripping others off then you should really give your head a wobble and have a condor moment to contemplate why you are getting called out. This forum is great as people who do know better help those who don’t.

If you are here to make a quick buck of other people who enjoy the same hobby then stick that hpa 50 rpm beast up your arse and let rip.

Definitely,  but if people are going to comment directly on a thread, it needs to be polite, & ideally informative with a retailer link to the item.

Unfortunately what some of the older members used to consider "banter", now has serious connotations irl, which of course the snowflakes are all over it.
Describing someone as a nonce is unacceptable, unless they are shown to be one.  One does not have to be a snowflake to object to such “banter”.

Agree, I don't condone such terms within the parameters of "banter", it's connotations far outweigh any possible attempt at humour.

I could have deleted it, or issued a warning, but I think there's more benefit in other members correcting the person who bandied it about than me policing every hurty word, there's only so many hours in the day lol.

Plus, my comment you've just quoted wasn't in reference to the N word, but rather the comments on the guys actual sales threads.

Wait... has something gone straight over my head?

Genuinely thought people used nonce as the most exaggerated, blasé, broad insult for anything that's remotely strange or aggravating regardless of it's actual meaning.

Must just be a local or generational thing.

Apologies if that's ruffled some feathers with the guys in here, not the intention.

Oh, he's posted it again further inflating the price.

It's a V2 WE GBB which is now end of life, you can buy the V3 Scar H with 3 extra mags brand new for around £420 after shipping and import charges are taken into account from KIC.

Has 'semi locked' it because its running at 420fps, but also claims it has a RATech Aluminium NPAS nozzle in it - so I wouldn't trust it to be actually semi locked if he can't even figure out how to twiddle a screw to reduce said fps.

Aluminium Nozzle and the TNT hop unit only belong in one place anyway, the bin, as they're significantly worse than the original parts, so they do not add value at all.

He's also irreperably damaged the bolt to make the charging handle non-reciprocating, as it is not possible to make that reversible.

So, even if you discount the things he will let you option out, he's asking for an £100 premium over new for a fucked Scar H.

You're not wrong.  In the 80s I remember it as describing someone who dressed in bright garish shell suits.

Maybe another example of words changing meaning over time.

A nonce is a sex offender, typically a pedophile.

It's an acronym for not on normal courtyard exercise, ie a prisoner who can't be allowed in the open with other prisoners for their own safety.

So yeah, a little excessive for someone who's overcharging for airsoft guns. ?
