M4 Upgrades -- Solved

So I'm looking at buying my first aeg. A G&G Wild Hog 9" polymer version. 

I have £100 pounds to spend on upgrades, what should I upgrade?

I've heard the stock motor isn't great so I was going to upgrade it. I have no idea what motor is currently in it and I dont know enought about motors to choose the right one....

I also wanted to put a m110 spring in the gun, my site max is 350.

Should I bother upgrading air seal parts of the bat? Or should I wait?

Cant afford all, only £100 budget, what should be prioritised?

I am going to say it before someone else does.  Have you considered using £100 to just buy a more expensive G&G (or other brand) gun and save the hassle of upgrades?

Hmm, well I started off at looking at a cheaper gun then decided to buy a more expensive gun and not buy any upgrades, but its just I love the external look of this gun and thought f*ck it, I'll upgraded it whilst I'm at it.

So short answer, yes, but I don't want to...

Buy the gun and instead of pulling it apart when you're not sure what you're doing, go and play with the thing. Don't judge it based on comments from people on the Internet you've never met.

Get a good few skirmishes under your belt, compare it with other guns and decide where it might be a bit lacking with regard to your play style. Then you actually know what needs improving.

Don't try and learn to upgrade your only gun.

With regard to your last of upgrades...

An M100 spring will get you to 350fps if everything is properly set up.

There is precisely no point in spending that much on a motor if the components that support it aren't up to the job. That means battery, connectors, wiring and trigger /Mosfet. In addition, you can't just put any motor in a gun and hope it'll work. You need to consider the battery you're using, the gearing, the strength of the spring and more importantly, what rate of fire do you want, trigger response, do you shot mainly full auto or semi auto? It'll also need the gearbox internals adjusted to suit the new motor pinion. Any increase in performance needs to be supported by mods that ensure the internals don't try and eat themselves the first time you pull the trigger too, ie angle of engagement and shimming.

There's not much wrong with the stock piston for moderate performance.

Likewise the cylinder head and air nozzle.

A barrel makes the least difference for the amount of money spent. Polish the standard one, and buy yourself some decent 0.25g BBs, 0.28 if the hop will lift them. If it won't then blow a whole 15 quid on a flat hop rubber and nub.

Im not getting to put you off having a go, but it's very easy to chuck £100 at a gun and make it worse. Before you can improve something you have to know it's weaknesses and what you actually want it to perform like.

If you're going to head up the upgrade path, then one you've decided what you want to achieve then you start with the basics.

First off is batteries. Go lipo. Then make sure the power can get where it's going, so Deans connectors and good quality 16awg wiring. The base gun might already be equipped with these so that's a win.

Be aware that the G&G CM guns with the factory Mosfet have had some electrical reliability issues. Google G&G ETU problems...

There is a lot that can be done to make a stock gun shoot a lot better without spending money, but if you are opening your wallet, build the foundation first!
