Hi folks,

Have been out of airsofting for about a decade or so, thinking of getting back into it but I'm not that interested in my old RIFs and want a bit of a fresh start.

First wanted to address the issue of long-term storage of AEGs - I don't have a battery or charger anymore so have no way to test them, but my stuff has only been used in about a dozen or so skirmishes, then boxed up and stored under the bed for all this time - is it reasonable to expect them to be fine and operational? I kept them in good condition when I was active and they were virtually like new when put away. The CYMA AK47 never even got skirmished just plinked at a few cans.

Looking to part with a Tokyo Marui H&K G36C, a CYMA AK47 (plastic not metal) and a Tokyo Marui Benelli M4 tri-shot.

The Benelli is the only one I would say has some wear and tear, mainly because some of the rubber coated components, such as the grip, have developed that weird problem you get sometimes with rubber where it starts weeping and going all sticky with age.

I also have a few mid-caps to go with the G36 and quite a few shells for the shotgun

The rule of thumb is 60-70% of the current cheapest new price, as you don't know if they're working or not then under that estimate.

If you're getting back into the financially draining hobby again then I would buy a rif you do want, you'll get a battery with it (probably), or take them to the site you want to get your ukara from & borrow a battery to test them, they'll even be able to chrono them for you.

As above, roughly ⅔ of the cheapest new price is a good starting point and then deduct more for other things like wear and tear, damage or being ex two tone.

Being stored indoors the only thing I can think which might need replacing is the hop rubber but I'm sure others who are more knowledgeable will chime in if there's anything I missed. Can you post any pictures?

Thanks both. I'll try to get some pictures shortly. Not a bad idea buying a RIF I want before checking and selling the others, but I am having a bit of a hard time deciding what exactly to get, partly because what I'm interested in is quite specific, but mostly because my knowledge is so out of date on what are good brands these days. Might make another post in the relevant section to get some advice on this.

Probably a topic for another thread, but what do you want and what's your budget? If you're after something specific then I'm sure someone here will be able to point you in the right direction.

Edit: just seen the last sentence, that'll teach me not to reply before finishing reading the post.

The first specific thing you need is a ukara or a couple of tins of camo paint. I got lucky and a few of my early purchases came un blemished by the shop but generally any RIF you want will be two-toned if bought new.

Now to find your other post coz I'm nosey as hell.

If you need to get site membership then rather than buying a 2 tone why not get some batteries for either or both of the guns and use them for your 3 games. If there's anything wrong with them you'll find out and if not, while a new battery will add bigger all to the value of it when you do sell, it could be a nice extra which could get you the sale. Or if it fits the new gun you can keep it as you'd need one anyway.

It might be worth chatting to the site you're playing at to let them know your situation so they can have a rental gun available if the worst comes to the worst and both guns are dead.

I bought a charger and found my old batteries so managed to test fire both AEGs, both appear to be working fine, although I don't have a chrono so no idea on FPS.

Below are some pics.

The G36C top rail is custom and the muzzle is currently wearing an M4 flash hider, but I still have the originals to put back on.

Assuming they're both working & taking the age/storage time into consideration I'd say the AK currently retails at £125 so around £75, the G36 retails at £290 so £175. both these prices are based on a 60% value.

The cheapest UK price I can find for the AK is £140 so the usual 60-70% of retail would put it at around £90. The age and that you don't know the muzzle energy would knock off a bit more so I'd say £75 would be a good price to start at.

Sounds good to me guys, thank you. I'll get a classified ad up when I have a minute
