Dunno if it's been asked, prolly done to death with AEGs, but my question for now if a longer inner barrel will provide more distance than a shorter one when using a GBBr if all things are the same as GBBs have different propellant properties than AEGs.

Say, same barrel tightness, same FPS chronoed 1cm from the end of the barrel, same hop nubbin and same 0.30g bbs .... which barrel will throw that BB the furthest? 200mm vs 400mm GBBr barrel ...

reason I ask is that I see lotsa Tube personalities having a Angry Gun Power Up barrel with their MP7s while doing CQB/field games ... is it worth the extra barrel length than stock ones ?

The trouble with an extended barrel on a GBBR is the power. It immediately increases it.

For example, a KWA Vector with a normal barrel is about 370 ish without an NPAS, 460 ish with a power up silencer (illegal in the U.K.)

It may, or may not, increase range.

I know a longer barrel for GBBs will increase the FPS/range. But, what I'm trying to determine is if a longer barrel will give you further distance than a short one if both barrels (long and short) are say capped to a max field fps of say, 400fps and is adjusted to that limit with a NPAS that can be dialed up or down to stay at that limit. Different hopup rubber/units may do the same, increase distance, hence keeping it the same for both long/short barrels to make it more subjective.

Am in NZ, but regardless of where I am, still would like to know whether, with a GBBR, will a longer barrel make the BBs go further than a shorter barrel given when everything else (bore, fps, hopup, bb weight, hopup rubber) are all exactly the same the two barrels

It make a difference as anything over 350 fps that’s not semi only is illegal in the U.K.

I would think that a longer barrel could increase range, but only because it is increasing energy. If a BB leaves the barrel at your 400 fps and assuming the hop is optimal it will go 'X' distance, if it leaves a short barrel at 400 fps or a long barrel at 400 fps isn't going to make a difference as the BB is carying the same energy . Plenty of gas pistols out there that can match or better AEG ranges with short barrels .

If you're talking about them both having the same FPS at the exit of the barrel, either long or short, then no there'll be no discernable difference in range. A longer barrel doesn't necessarily mean better accuracy either. My ARP9 with a 5 inch barrel is marginally more accurate/consistent than my M4 with about a 14 inch barrel.

It depends how you want to play really, if you want a higher FPS on your gbbr then a longer barrel will make that easier to achieve with less stress on the internals of the system.

I think my Q has been answered by the post above ... but yeah ... what I wanted to know is if a long barrel 400fps gbb will shoot further or out-shoot a short barrel 400fps gbb. Cheers Guys ?
