Kings Arms battery upgrade?

Hi, I have a Kings Arms  1928 Chicago Thompson, currently running on a Swiss Arms 8.4v battery. Does anyone know if the internals will take a Lippo 11.1  ? Or would I need a gearbox upgrade ?

It'll take it, but will probably shorten gearbox life.

As for pre-upgrading it, surely running it until something fails is a more realistic indicator as to what part or parts you'll need. 

Or is my logic skewed ??

Yeah I agree. Run it on the 11.1 and see what happens. It may well surprise you and keep on going. If it does shit the bed then at least you will know( hopefully) what to change.

I personally wouldn't run 11.1 on a stock gearbox.

At least it should be properly shimmed, radiused, cleaned and re-greased first.

As @Tackle said, it'll likely shorten the life of the gearbox and may cause more damage than a 7.4 if something does fail.
