Jt proflex mask problems

Hi all. 

I'm still having fogging issues when playing Airsoft. It's getting me down as I just can't see anything, especially as I wear glasses underneath them.

I've brought the above mask and an exfog unit. It has the double pain lenses, but someone at Airsoft today said I can get mesh lenses for it? I can't find any online though. 

I've tried antifogging sprays but they still don't make much difference for very long. 

Can anyone please make any suggestions, I used a grill mask thing today but my glasses still streamed up but not as bad.

I'm basically half blind at the moment and a walking target..

Had so many headshots today I look like I have small pox.

I'm debating cutting out most of the foam. Would that help and be safe?

Possibly a silly question but did you still use the anti fog on your glasses when using the mesh mask? Also what anti fog spray are you using? I've found some work far better than others.

I'm not familiar with that particular mask so I can't 100% say it's safe but any foam you do remove will help airflow. Just make sure any holes left behind won't let a bb through

Thank you for the reply, yes I still used the spray. I let it dry thn buffed it as advised. I tried the spit technique before that without any luck.  

Any suggestions on a brand? I'll try anything right now. 

It's full face, and has good ear and face cover. I'll try and remove a bit of foam where it looks safe.

No worries. My go to brand of anti fog is called cat crap. It comes as a paste in a red tub. Simply rub it onto the lens, buff it a bit then wipe off with a cloth.

It should cost ten to fifteen quid for a small tub but I find it lasts ages as you only need a little at a time

Thinking outside the box moment but... try playing without wearing any hats/ helmets/ bandana's/ wigs/ knotted hankies etc, see if it helps.

 Thanks, yep I tried that today, and have the scars and bruises to show for it. We play in forest and scrub land and I kept getting minor cuts and scrapes from branches and of course the head shots . I also stripped off most of my layers. I wasn't hugely active and running about either. I'm 50 and my back was sore. It was a particularly humid day though. As had rained and them sun came out.

Unfortunately staying still is the worst thing for fogging as when you're moving air circulates round you better

I'll bear that in mind, there was little wind today either which probably didn't help. 

Not my best day of Airsofting, fell over a few times and took a lot of hits. Son and his mates enjoyed it though.

I've took it apart and removed some of the foam and adjusted the exfog pipes. I was sat in the middle of the lounge floor away from all the furniture and I've still managed to lose a screw...

Wot the fuk... I've even stripped off and searched under the sofas. Even got my son to look.

Cat Crap is excellent, as is Absolutely Clear; it was recommended to me by my eldest, who uses it when diving.

To be honest contact lenses are the best way to go. They are a pain when you first get into them but after a month or so they're easy to get in and out. 

The run a pair of herosharks and you'll forget fogging exists

A few recommended that to me yesterday, unfortunately I have tried them several times in the past without success. I just couldn't take to them. I have several eye issues, and glasses suit me as I'm rather ugly...

Away back in my Paintballing days (90’s)

New JT Thermal lenses came fitted with a protective polythene layer on the inside side of the lense

Dont known as if they still do, but have a look, and remove it

It used to seriously impede the anti fog performance 

I used to wear glasses under mine, and it was only them that would sometimes mist up

Many if not all paintball type lenses (at least when sold as a replacement) have a peel off protective layer (maybe inside and outside), which is often left on including those who should know better

At tournaments in the ‘upper’ leagues I have often seen players complaining about their new lenses until a team mate points out the inner layer 

My problem is the opposite - buying new shiney mirrored lenses from the traders at a tournament, then fitting them straight away and instantly destroying the mirror layer with my camera instead of leaving them for gameplay 

Some dual panes can have their antifog seal beak down changing them to fog creators, if it’s a ‘thick film’ type inner pane then one solution is to peel away the inner pane —- but if that’s happened it’s probably about time to replace anyway

I would be wary of cutting the inner foam, it is a component part of the eye protection seal, and though it would be rare BBs can arrive in strange directions.  (I’ve not seen with full face, but I have seen marshals take a BB into the eye area of glasses and small goggles (luckily with all the energy absorbed bouncing along the way)

In theory a sealed face area around the eyes can be the cause of sweaty fogging, therefore more airflow could reduce that

But I would repeat the advice of cat crap and other anti fog solutions on both the inner pane and on glasses

(Note that once you put treatments onto the lens you also reduce the effectiveness of any manufacture
