Is the Facebook ban going to ruin the forum?

What about all the people on here who dress up in all their gear and then take selfies?

I personally think thats sadder than Facebook selfies. I have never not even once put all my kit on at home let alone felt the need to take a picture.

Why do so many people think the world needs another picture of a geeky 18yr old or a fat 40yr old stood in their lounge wearing pretend army clothes?

I did do one gun pic but that was a bit of a joke about the fact I ran round the meet up armed with a squeaky pig and party poppers. Even that made me feel a bit of a saddo.

Give everybody a hint if you look like where's wally or a fat bearded dungeon and dragons player putting on camo really doesn't help.

Lets ban all selfies.
One of the airsoft pages I'm on has tons of photos on a Friday night/ Saturday saying ready for Sunday and they are fully dressed in camo Inc eye pro :D . I enjoy the game but I don't want people I work with such as managers knowing I dress as action man and jump about the woods with a toy gun. They wouldnt let me out the secure unit.

I tried to keep it apart by using a alias based facebook account and that worked for a year. Then facebook decided they would crack down on accounts not using their real name and started requiring government documentation to prove my name was Bright Candle. Its a real pain, I only really use facebook for Okto milsim and airsoft related stuff anyway but due to its incredibly poor ability to set privacy and keep the worlds apart its not worth it to me.

Anyone caught posting pics of there dinner, kids or selfies should be shot.

Once I work out how to take a decent self portrait with my SLR camera, due to lens shake when my arms are outstretched, have sent off the 35mm film to get it developed by Kodak, then selected the best 6x4 photograph, I will need some advice on how to scan it into my computer and attach it to a post. Maybe that is why we never took selfies... much better to snap other people, and there were some great polaroids in magazines ;)

I for one am glad Facebook are starting to ban sales on there, the way they’ve gone about it is shite like but glad none the less. I found on Facebook there’s far more scam artist on their than the forums. Although forums aren’t free of them I personally think there seems to be less.

The scams will just come on here and the quality of the site will go down if there is a minimum post count.

not necessarily. Before facebook sales pages where about the forum/s were brilliant and scammers were far and few between. I don't think it will have that much of an impact on the forums

Yes, accessibility is a factor, join facebook and you have access to many resources, and all those sites with "login with facebook".

Simply put, no. An influx doesn't provide a credible reason to ruin it.

Last week may have been bigger but it's not huge.

Seeing "rif" and "RIF" a lot more on this forum recently. IMO airsoft gun first, IF second, RIF third.

That's one of my pet peeves, people calling their Airsoft Gun their 'RIF'... seriously, it's a fucking BB gun, RIF is a legal distinction!

Everyone knows it's BBGat.
Or their Piece...if they're really gangsta
That said, I knew a guy who named his guns. He went so far as to having their names professionally engraved on them. Unfortunately, no-one but him could keep up with what guns were called what...so when he talked about using Beth and Martha, we still didn't have a clue what he was on about.

Indeed, the only thing I have against two tones is the reduced resale value, which ironically doesnt matter because of the drastically increased number of available buyers. I saw a post somewhere today where RIF was used when it should have been IF or just gun and I couldn't believe it.

Sad thing is that while i've no doubt these are genuine players, i'm seeing a cultural shift to glorifying air soft which I previously never saw. I want to say "chaps, airsoft predates the VCRA!"

Is the ban still on going? I found my access restored to a group I couldn't access for a while (I only read on FB).

Yes, still on. They ban users temporarily. Maybe they ban pages temporarily too.

I've known of some groups like the GearTech one getting banned the unbanned on appeal. I'm fairly certain groups/pages get permanently closed without an appeal though.

Has anybody heard about Paypal banning airsoft transactions or was that an idea of an April Foolx joke ?

Saw something from LWA about it, saying they are stopping accepting Paypal ?

I know they don't always cover airsoft-related sales. LWA said it wasn't a joke though.

I'ma email PayPal.
