Hey guys,
I want to share with you how "competitive" airsoft works here, since we adopt a completely different style from what you're used to see/do.
Here's the rule set and objective list for the first tournament of the year, basically it's a raid style tournament, with several objectives placed along a defined path to follow.
Usually these tournaments last between 3 and 8 hours, depending on how rough the terrain is and the number of main and secondary (bonus) objective the organizing team has made.
Basic rules:
The "competing" teams are made of 8 people.
Every member's gun has to be within regulations (0.99J or lower, chronoed with 5 shots and the average value is taken into account). No pyros or any kind of grenades allowed (no tornado, thunder bs or trmrs either, smokes are also NOT allowed).
You can literally take any kind of gun, be it a rifle,an SMG, a sniper rifle or a LMG, nobody cares as long as it's within 0.99J
Every team can carry up to 2 backup guns, which will also be chronoed according to the rule above.
Completing each objective condition gives your team points, i'll list them below anyway..
There is a time limit for each objective (from 15 to 25 minutes depending on how hard it is)
Special "hit" rules apply to certain situations (bunkers, enclosed structures, towers)
Every objective has a referee, who will follow the competing team and ensures that everyone calls their hits and doesn't do stupid stuff. he must wear a high visibility jacket, but he usually stays in the middle of the fight, to not give away anyone's position for free.
Every objective can have up to 5 defenders (some will have just a couple or none, others will have 5 and usually the ones with 5 are tough as hell to complete)
So, for this one we have to complete 5 Objectives, which have primary, secondary and bonus conditions to be completed.
Our first objective is:
PRIMARY CONDITION: free a prisoner (500 pts)
SECONDARY CONDITION: exfil the prisoner (300 pts)
1st BONUS: destroy a tower with a satchel.. there will be 1 bad guy on this tower and he's immune to our shots, the only way to "kill" him is to place the satchel below the tower (special hit rule).. he can do whatever he wants until we blow him up (200 pts)
2nd BONUS: recognize a few weaponry pieces (props, not the real ones) used by the Italian armed forces (this require a bit of knowledge) (200 pts)
3rd BONUS: do all of this within 15 minutes (200 pts)
Exfil: gtfo of there (100 pts)
Time limit: 20 minutes
Notes: the prisoner is handcuffed in an enclosed structure (will probably be a hut of some sort), the keys are stored in a safe locked with a 4 digit code, the code can be obtained using a couple of Math formulas.
Second Objective:
PRIMARY: build and ready a SAM site (500 pts)
SECONDARY: find the target coordinates, based on a spot marked on the map (300 pts)
1st BONUS: recognize a few vehicles (probably pictures) used by the Italian armed forces (this require a bit of knowledge) (200 pts)
2nd BONUS: decrypt a morse code letter (200 pts)
3rd BONUS: do all of this within 15 minutes (200 pts)
Exfil: gtfo (100 pts)
Time limit: 20 minutes
Third Objective:
PRIMARY: build an A-Frame shelter with local materials, minimum dimensions: 210x100x100 cm (500 pts)
SECONDARY: commando crawl on a rope (300 pts)
1st BONUS: identify 2 local plants/trees (100 pts each identification, must be 100% accurate though)
2nd BONUS: hit 2 targets with a sniper rifle from within the shelter (100 pts each hit, 3 rounds available)
3rd BONUS: complete everything within 15 minutes (200 pts)
Exfil: as before, gtfo (100 pts)
Time limit: 20 minutes
Notes: this objective doesn't require any shooting apart from the 2nd bonus, it's just a test on what i would call basic bushcraft knowledge (something i'm actually good at)..
Fourth Objective
PRIMARY: Destroy a bunker by busting it with a grenade (500 pts)
SECONDARY: Disable and steal radio equipment (300 pts)
1st BONUS: Recognize camo patterns (100 points each, 2 camos)
2nd BONUS: Recognize insignia (100 points each, 2 insignias from our army)
3rd BONUS: do everything within 15 minutes (200 pts)
Exfil: guess what? you get 100 points if you carry your ass out of there.
Time limit: 20 minutes
Notes: the guy in the bunker can't be killed unless we manage to throw the grenade (a prop) inside, same rules as the tower in the 1st objective.
Fifth and last Objective:
PRIMARY: Disarm a bomb (500 pts)
SECONDARY: save the guy carrying the bomb (300 pts)
1st BONUS: spot and correctly range a given target with a spotting scope (200 pts)
2nd BONUS: identify 2 ranks from the Alpini regiment (200 pts)
3rd BONUS: do all dis crap in less than 15 minutes
Exfil: not even going to tell you..
Time limit: 20 minutes
Notes: Regarding the Alpini ranks (basically our mountain warfare regiment), we're lucky because one of our team members actually serves in that regiment xD
in this objective we have to do a bit of LARP, since we have to convince the bomb guy to give us the suitcase, we can't just shoot him because otherwise the bomb will go off, nor use violence.. that's actually going to be a fun one xD
Also the bomb has a 20 minutes timer, which starts its countdown as soon as the referee shouts the start (or uses a whistle)
After that we are done.. it'll take 3 to 4 hours to complete the whole course, there's some distance between each objective, and we will probably have to wait at each objective for the teams in front of us to do it and move along.
