Hadron Pegasus GBB Hop Unit for the TAC-41

I've been having hop issues / quirks with my TAC-41 P for a while now, I've gone back to my trusty DMR, but I thought f**k it and put in a pre-order for the Hadron Pegasus GBB hop unit (and bought the Sniper Mechanics TAC-41 Dampened Cylinder Head (GBB) + 60 degree Flamingo Bucking).

I can't see anyone else here discussing the Pegasus so I though I'd start a thread on it for us all.

Also I now need to buy a good 510mm GBB inner barrel to pair with this all, and not one that breaks the bank. What brand etc would people here recommend? (I'm only up to speed on AEG inner barrels, also am I correct in the assumption that too tight a bore really isn't good for GBB / bolt action?).

Hi, good day. Pegasus gbb hop chamber was just released officially on the market yesterday hence no one is talking about it, much. 
Currently, am running both aeg and gbb hop/ barrel system on my TAC41A.  GBB type just seals and shoots better. No plans of changing my current hop up system until Hadron announced and released the Pegasus video. I was sold by the impressive barrel, bucking and hop up air seal. The design was more likely similar to EDGI tac41 gbb hop up prototype 4 years ago. But yes, I placed an order, in 2 weeks time it will be on hand.

EDGI is my go to barrel, he can cut the barrel according to my specs. My type 96 and LTm40a3 bolty are both running with edgi 5.98mm inner barrels without any issue.

I've just gone with the SBA one to start with, a fair comparison to the stock AEG one, and if the change to GBB / the Pegasus is great I'll probably get a stainless steel inner barrel when I have the money for it.

However, I'm a little surprised by the marks / marring inside the hop unit itself as shown below...

... as if something too wide has been inserted into it, and this is it straight out of the plastic container (I'd only taken it out of the delivery packaging from Longbow BB, no inner barrel or other object has been inserted by me). I'll contact Longbow BB about it before I assemble it.

507mm barrel, that’s a long one. Hope you sort things out soon. Can’t wait to hear your reviews.

I've spoken to them / him and the response was...

I’ve forwarded the below including the pics to Hadron who assure me that these are just machining marks that very few of the units will carry.

These won’t have any bearing on the performance of the unit.

... so I'm happy to go ahead and install it, but will stop if I feel the inner barrel catching at all. The response also implies that some other purchasers of it will have the same marks. I'll probably install it during next week and then pop down the farm my brother works on to test it safely at range in a quiet field (and compare it to my DMR).

Also in your last photo that's certainly not one of the assumed side arms to go with a sniper. It's good to be different though  (I run an AAP-01)

Hi, that’s what I like with Jason/Longbow. After sales service is topnotch. But I expect more from Hadron, given that it cost more compared SB hop up chambers, finishes should be flawless. That gives Hadron 1 minus star.

Yeah, ssp5 is kinda loud, not so ideal for a side arm but a suppressor will compensate. I like the out of the box performance though. Talking about DMR, I have an ongoing project on my desk now. Just waiting for the RA split gearbox shell and hopefully I could get hold of the secret barrel that my builder was boasting about. If not, I’ll stick with the edgi.

An update for anyone who is interested or may learn something from my shenanigans

As well as buying the Hadron Pegasus I went a bit further overboard, with a Sniper Mechanics GBB cylinder head and a WASP piston, and if the TAC-41 P still disappoints me (as a DMR player) after this I'll call it quits on sniping.

So with all of this installed, using a Rapax 2+ RMS spring and the heaviest piston weight, it's off to my brothers farm for testing it at range (comparing it to my DMR). With the hop set reasonably well I'm finally getting the range I'd expect to, around 70+ meters, compared to around 55/60+ for my DMR, but when I get home this turns out to be at around 2.4 J on 0.48g BB's

Now I'm getting a very good air seal (along with a little PTFE tape on the cylinder heads thread), and using the heaviest piston weight, but it's too hot. So with further testing I'm now on the lightest plastic weight and getting around 2.25 J which I'm going to stick with.

With the Imgur ban in the UK, f**king idiot Government, I won't share any images but for reference hear are the piston weights...

# Stock AEG Piston: 51g
# Heaviest WASP Piston: 120g
# Lightest WASP Piston: 6g

Now I need to pop back to the farm for some more testing at range...
