Gun servicing

Hi all, i have a G&G M4 and wanted to send it somewhere to be serviced, see what the fps is and what not. But due to still not playing much i don't know where to send it to. Any places that are reliable and not going to absolutely break the bank ?

To be honest, no retailer has fantastic techs and costs are inflated when compared to what they carry out. I can't really recommend a place, just thought I'd let you know my experience in general. I'm a pretty clued up tech and modding (by modding, I don't mean simply replacing a part and calling it teching) and will be starting up a service soon, will let everyone know when it's all properly set up.

I would suggest contacting `Grounded Pilot' as he is based in Norfolk - see his post here:-

I have not used his services but he is only about 20 miles from Norwich (Bungay); is a regular contributor to the forums and seems to want to develop a re[pair business. Sounds like a guy who will do his best to make sure you are a satisfied customer.

I'd recommend talking to ppl and watching a fair few YouTube vids on breaking down your model of M4 and then do it yourself.

Be kinda hard to chrono it yourself without a chrono, Ian lol.

Also, M4s were designed by Satan on the inside, I hate them so much that I've sold every AR platform rifle I've ever had just because I hated pissing about with the god awful gearbox so much.

True, V2's are horrible if they don't play fair.

I sold my Armalite platforms too... but mainly because I hated Armalites!

The V3 gearbox is my favourite, but the V7 is even better fun. Watched my mate pull apart his M14 once, rejecting my aid simply because he thought he was the bee's knees at anything mechanical. He went pale after seeing the relatively complex wiring and electrical mechanisms on the outside of the gearbox!

He managed to disassemble it, but got stuck on the reassembly!

But if you really want a challenge... try an ARES Propriety gearbox, such as the PPSh-41's. In their genius, they made a quick change spring but attached the spring to the piston.....

If you've ever worked on an ICS L85, or if you haven't, then I implore you to find an easier gearbox to work on.

Yeah, an L86 to be exact. I stupidly made it fire at 40rps without making sure the AOE was 100% spot on. It took a huge chunk out of the piston, had to strip it and reassemble in the safe zone. It was a remarkably simple in design indeed, had a new piston in there and ready to go for the rest of the day... except reducing it's ROF a bit using a 9.6v not an 11.1v lipo

LOL. Know what you're saying. I sold all my M4s except for the ICS ones. Sure they sound like sewing machines and getting non ICS externals on them can be a challenge (although everything will go on eventually with the correct application of a file and elbow grease!) but the split gearbox is a joy to work on

Seriously though, ICS are just too good. If they had the compatibility of G&P they'd be THE airsoft manufacturer, there'd simply be no need for anyone else to make guns. ICS should just make everything.

I can recommend Mark Easey. He is in Cambridge and fixed my son's L85 and then the one we gave him to use as spares, fixed that as well with no extra charge!! He also services most of Gunman Airsoft's fleet as well. I have his number if you want it?
