Idiots live-streaming on Westminster Bridge with toy gun.

Thats exactly what happened after Hungerford. The home Secretary Douglas He’d went on TV and said our firearms was where strict enough and didn’t need changing. Few months later after press starred em up and they banned semi auto rifles. All they ever want is to be seen to do something, 'taking guns of the street' ( they weren’t on the street ) they don’t care if it actually works.

I feel like the UK Airsoft community is a constantly twitching version of American 2A Crackpots sometimes ngl. Constant "they're coming for our guns" despite the only time Parliament has mentioned it since 2020 being a suggestion that the government use Airsoft groups for civil defense training.

Dad's Army eat your heart out, but it doesn't seem to me like there's this big conspiracy to take our toys tbh. Hell most people I meet genuinely have no clue what Airsoft *is*. It's a very insular community.

I get that there was a lot of furore around the VCRA but that was 2006. There are UKARA carrying Airsofters younger than that. 😂
As the guys posting below have pointed out, we're an easy target, & you can guarantee going after our "guns" would be a very public display of the government "protecting its citizens & getting guns off the streets", so many brownie points for actually achieving something, especially if it takes the attention of the crap they're not sorting out.
We all know the truth of the matter is that real criminals can still get real guns, but sorting that would be a lot harder than reducing the amount of rifs in circulation, & if it happened, who's got our backs, anybody with any power ?, not really, we cant even scream about our human rights ffs.
This incident could be a cluster fuck of epic proportions, our best hope it that the authorities don't focus solely on the "gun", but rather take a stand against every idiot streamer that does dumb shit for likes, freezing, & hopefully taking their assets is definitely a good start, money talks after all.

So true. A real criminal will acquire a firearm from illegitimate sources and not give a dam if it's restricted or illegal at all.

Laws just control the legitimate guns for the genuine people. Most I agree with and some I just don't understand. Like the vcra rules, my mate who has a full fac and owns a few large round rifles but he can't walk into a Airsoft shop and get a RIF to use as a training aid for plinking. He does use a 22 air rifle for that was just using that as an example if he wanted to. He also can't get a RIF for the odd skirmish when he tags along with me and expressed no interest in joining a club or getting his ukara.

One of these requires UKARA, but the other you can just walk in and buy. 🙄

I'm ngl I had to look up who Douglas Hurd was; he left office a year after I was born.

I'm just saying that you can genuinely read the Parliamentary record for yourself and see there's no fire behind this smoke.

If nothing else the only reason I ever know these incidents ever happened, is because the UK Airsoft scene poops pant over it every time. The rest of the country doesn't even notice.

Like this happened a week ago. It had no impact.

Think it depends on what’s going on in the world, if it was a quite news day it would probably get more coverage, with what’s going on at the moment with wars, potential wars, taking over country’s by force, etc, theirs a lot of bad stuff for the media to talk about.
Also as the government wants young people to join the armed services for a year on mass, not looking likely if you can’t trust them to even own an airsoft/airgun.
They can’t have it both ways.

I think you're boxing bogeymen in your head tbh.

No one is banning Airsoft. Like I said, the literal only mention of it in five years is about recruiting us to go fight Russia lmfao.
