Made the Tippmann into a DMR, so I need the longer scope ?

Not sure yet if I'll put the bipod on it - any thoughts?

509 tightbore into the longer suppressor.
Really like the gun but don’t like the scope , just don’t think it look right on it .

For my tastes needs either a shortdot or a low magnification scope .

Good point. I have a thing for guns that are barely longer than the optic as it gives it a really aggressive hunched look. I'm the guy who ran an ARP-9 with a short dot though so maybe I'm just a mong with a crush.

The only church I attend is the one of 'whatever floats your boat'.

Personally if I go with magnification I'll use something shorter like an ACOG instead of a 'scope' on guns other than DMRs and bolties, but that's more cosplay than anything else.  Given how accurate some really short airsoft guns can sometimes be and how inaccurate some longer ones can be, there's no reason to be restricted either way.   I love 3-4x (or more even) for ID purposes, especially at a skirmish when you're hunting for that bit of scrunched up tape on a guy's arm wearing camo running perpendicular to you behind a load bushes.

It's like that for the paintball mask.  Can't get any kind of cheek weld with it.

Will be trying some Bullet Ants and a half mesh mask, so might work without the extra height.

Does this look any better?

I'll take the iron sights off once  if I am happy with the scope.

I think the mistake you perhaps made, and this isn't a dig just trying to be constructive here, is to try and make a gun of a totally different style with only bolt-on rail attachments.  It's a very common thing and people do it all the time but I've come to the conclusion over the years it doesn't really work.  The gun you've pictured with the marine there is a Mk12 SPR, which has an 18" barrel and a freefloat rail that's roughly twice as long as the handguard you currently have, along with a fixed stock.  For someone wanting to replicate that look, the only way to really do it that'll look good in the end is invest the time and effort to actually make the bigger changes to the gun's components.  A standard M4 layout with the 14.5" barrel, 7" rail and collapsible stock is meant to be a do-all/most carbine for the majority of realistic combat distances, 0 to ~300m.  You can slap picatinny accessories on stuff super easy and it's airsoft so that's fine, have at it, but it takes a bit more work to really change the overall aesthetic to something entirely different.

That photo was more about the size of the scope, rather than me aiming to build that specific rifle.

I had a look at what DMR was from a functional point of view.  So single shot, longer than a normal M4 with longer range, and in terms of airsoft specifics in this case amiming for 420 fps.

I will probably get a floating rail later on.

Looking at the article as a whole, the stocks are variable, either m16 or m4 stock, m16 or m4 receiver etc.

I've got a barrel extention as well, but as the 509 TBB fit with just the suppressor, didn't bother to put it on.  Orginally was looking to get about a 550 barrel, but everthing over 509 was out of stock

At this stage it is about getting it functioning as a DMR.

I'm sure there's other things I just didn't take in to account.  No drama either way though, @MisterG you do you.
No worries, I'm still learning, only been playing 5 months ?.  Before I started actually playing I wanted everything to be super realistic, but after having played, for me it's more about effective range.

Once I get that sorted, then I can look more at aesthetics.

Also I tend to do things on a budget, but if you do know of a good railsystem to recommend that doesn't cost much happy to take a look.

This is what I have been looking at.

The product description is a copy+paste from the Noveske original they've ripped-off and cloned.

£22 is way too little to spend on a freefloat metal KeyMod rail.  It might be ok for airsoft, or it might crumble in to fuckin dust when you try and attach it or when first put to use; that's the gamble with the bottom end chinese clones and it's exactly why arguments of "my mate has one and it's fine!" are literally pointless, because there's no consistency in manufacture.

I'm not sure that's an airsoft spec rail, from the description it seems it's a for a real rifle (which seems slightly worrying at the price I must say).
Tippmanns are a bit funny from what I have read, some bits are milspec, some bits AEG spec.  I think the rail is milspec, as airsoft ones often have to be shimmed.

Only just started looking around, what about TAC Vector Optics? Are they any good?

All these 'brand names' are made up bollocks when it comes to these sorts of products.  Smoke screens that'll vanish in short order.  Generally not even representative of the product because the re-brander will take products from dozens of different chinese factories and slap it in their own packaging - like Nuprol.

IMHO, investing in KeyMod at this point is a really bad move because M-LOK won the format wars and you're investing in obsolete designs.  Any rail in that price range will be of worse quality than the one you have on the gun already most likely, a downgrade, so you'd be better spending nothing and keeping what you've got.  Also you'll need a good set of tools and experience in taking ARs apart/putting them back together to install a free float, plus of course you need to make sure you find a low pro gas block that'll actually work with your outer barrel (unless you just don't want the faux gas system which is fine but if you're making the change for looks seems counter productive).

I'm weeks if not months away from doing anything with the rails, waiting till I get the performance right.  I like the tinkering aspect of Airsotf as much as playing.

What sort of tools would I need?

I've already been busy doing loads to the internals.

I've completely stripped the Tippmann and put it back together again a few times, it's a lot easier than an AEG.

It's had 2 inner barrels and 2 different buckings, flat hopped, since I bought it.  Also serviced it, greased O rings internally, removed the piston to convert to semi only, change the ROF setting, re-did the TDC mod, greased the buffer spring, taken off the buffer tube etc.  Next on the list is the dwell mod.

To do all the above, in terms of specialist tools, just needed the barrel/buffer tube spanner that came with the gun and various hex keys, mainly imperial ones as Tippmann uses imperial rather than metric.

Well, she's wearing her new clothes.
CQR Hera stock, Bipod Foregrip and, not that you can see it, a RATech NPAS.
I've been having problems fielding this - it's mostly been too hot for the sites I was playing at.
However, today, the site has a 500fps limit - Which is around 2.2J (ish).
This was running at 1.4J. So with a 30m MED, it became a bit pointless.
So I've turned it down to 1.1J and it's now classed the same as a standard AEG, with no MED - hurrah!
I might actually get to shoot people with it today!
Wish me luck.....

Very artistic, but in black&white AND low light you could be holding a Nerff gun and I still wouldn't tell the difference ! ?

???????

What ever gun it is aside , t’is a cool pic bud ?
?? it was taken by the Marshall on the day so had no choice over the colour sadly.
