Hello,

This is my first post. For years I owned an M4 Airsoft Rifle which I bought for a cheap £12.00. Anyway my rifle decided to stop working and so I decided to look for a new Airsoft Rifle and I wondered if you could all help me.

I am looking at an entry level rifle in the link. I will only be using for target practice. I want something that is sturdy and won't break. Has anyone had this rifle and can give me some pointers. Any links to good airsoft rifles would be fantastic.

I know it sounds pointless but would rather spent a little before fully jumping into Airsofting. I still have quite a lot of British Army Gear hanging around to use. Would be good to know your thoughts.

Hi

Get yourself something decent. Someone will be along to recommend a G&G combat machine soon or a JG G36c both cost 150ish but they are 10000000000000000000000000000000x better than that gun in the link and more fun. If you only use it in the garden it will last years and if you decide to play Airsoft you will have a decent starter gun that won't be outclassed by everything.

I completely understand your reasoning behind buying something cheap, a lot of people don't want to spend loads and / or want to see if they enjoy it (You should go to a skirmish a few times and hire, could get UKARA whilst you're at it?) It also gets pretty confusing with the choice of stuff and legalities (VCR Act, UKARA etc)

I realise it's only for target practice, but I don't think a spring rifle is worth spending £50 on. I doubt it will be sturdy and reliable either and it's definitely not a good starter gun.

It's probably worth mentioning we don't actually rate JustBBGuns very highly as you can see from thread in the 'Places to Buy' section

For that price I'd recommend taking a look at the DE tri-shot shotguns which are pretty decent and skirmishable as well.

In the UK the least you could spend on an electric airsoft gun would be £100+, something like a JG G36 as already mentioned, CYMA AK or G&G M4.

I was trying to find a cheaper pistol of good quality. Any advice there. Cheers guys looking into all these guns now.

You can get a good pistol for £100 and if you wanted to play cqb that's all you would need. Try the classifieds on here aswell.

Downside would be I think they are really common (like how a lot of people all seem to buy G&G Combat Machine M4s)

Tokyo Marui pistols are worth considering. They're above budget ~£120+ and you sacrifice some realism (Plastic slides, not metal) but get much better performance and gas efficency.

It would cost more in the long term for green gas / propane compared to an electric gun. Also for skirmishing it would be better to have a rifle before a pistol (Unless you are going to be doing indoor CQB rather than outdoors)

I think you would struggle to find a decent electric rifle for £100 bearing in mind you also need to buy a battery and charger. The cost/investment is probably nearer £150 all in.

Look at Airsoft World, they have some DE Springer rifles at prices ranging from £25-80.

You wont be able to go skirmishing with those but if you just want to garden plink as youve suggested they should be fine.

If you plan to leave your garden at some point and join the airsoft skirmish fraternity, it might be worth trying to save up more and start with the Cyma or G&G base level rifles.

Already been said but just confirming.....

There is a massive difference between say a JBBG "BullDog" M4 for £80

and a proper G&G carbine @ £117 at say zero one

yes you have buy your own battery/charger for G&G but you can imagine how good or rather

not so good the supplied battery/chargers are on the really cheap guns

or you could get a cheap spring/bolt sniper if you have a big long garden - say £60+

or a cheap Green Gas pistol from £30+ add gas to that

(onlybbguns is better of the 3 BB sites - use RC10 for 10% off - no I don't work/get commission but they ain't as bad as JBBG imho)

suppose it depends on what you are shooting and how far away the targets/garden

you can get away with some stuff a little cheaply but there is a lot of crap on BB sites

before you buy anything - work out exactly what you want and your budget

then chuck a link up - wish I had done this coz bought loads of crap before I found this place

sniper - well ya arms will hurt cocking that mofo after a while but an idea you can plink cheaply with some half decent cheap stuff

AEG - hmmm well get a G&G, Cyma, JG tbh - the cheaper aeg stuff don't perform too well

especially if you try and take it to a site

also firing a few shots in your garden is totally different to putting 3k bb's through a gun and abuse it gets running around falling over

(a cheap plinky aeg might last ok for a while at home but is way short out on a skirmish site all day)

I will get an electric rather than Gas (I think I would be clumsy with Gas). I did have an electric rifle which decided to not really work that well (I got it 2nd hand at £12.00 but was maybe more like £80 originally).

I think I am looking for more plinking rather than actual skirmishing battles at the moment (just that I am starting out with no real experience). Although this is something for the future. I have all the gear but I think its a case of experimenting getting a rifle and in case it goes away in a few months I have not wasted cash.

I think for me its the case of trying a few options out. I know I would need something sturdier for actual airsofting. I will weigh up some of the options.

you linked a gas pistol and one that does not have an adjustable hop up

so its worse than the one I linked

and stop looking at JBBG - that is the worst of the 3

they lie and their customer service is dire if you have a problem

bbguns4less are not as bad as JBBG - they do accept returns etc...

(still a fair amount of crap on there but a bit better customer service)

Not really. At these kind of prices, they are just toys (I know that all airsoft are toys really) bu you cant expect much at this price level.

Not being funny but Toys R Us charge more than this for many of their NERF guns.

Its worth comparing prices on some of the skirmish retailer sites - have a read through the retailer review section on here to get some idea who they are.

I seem to have all the opposite. I have 2 sets of webbing with all the various kit that comes with it yet not a high end rifle.

Well for a start, that linked SA80 wont come with a tactical light or optic for £30.

Dont see anything that says "photo only for impression - doesnt look anything like the one in the box"

ETA or maybe it does ? note the reviews talk about a scope ?

The spring SA80 will shoot about 20M and feel cheap. The spring SVD will fire further and would be a lot more powerful plus it looks better and will feel quality.

go to your nearest Airsoft shop and have a feel of the guns. You might not like how they feel. I don't like G36c but AK's feel nice in my hand. M4's are a bit meh but I own one so I'm probaly just bored of it.

All I was saying have a GOOD look around - JBBG are NOT the best place to buy plinkers from

(or anything imho but I am gonna say that coz have had more grief from them than others)

Do NOT think anything is 101% true - the 3 BB sites are not the most experienced "professional" airsoft retailers

By that I mean they describe stuff as metal when it is just plastic - either they don't know their ar$e from elbow

or they just bull$hit and tell you it is miles better than what it is..........

They sell cheap guns to younger noobish players who usually know very little and can't afford or justify buying the better stuff

It is easy to think that those cheap guns are a bit better than they really are the way they are described and reviewed

Garden plinking - yeah they are ok, still some are better than others

not a massive amount on those will perform very well on a skirmish site though

(you get what you pay for as the saying goes)

Don't get me wrong - saw a few m901c's yesterday and the players seem to do ok of a sort and still had fun

(probably would of done better with a better gun but still we all started somewhere & 901c is better than my b500a1)

Electric pistol - cyma glock or TM - not cheap £70 aprox but better than a £40 AAA battery pistol

but electric pistols shoot lower than gas pistols

gas pistols need gas - ergh yeah suppose that is obvious, can use propane gas if you go nuts with it

(but doubt if you will go that mad with it - well you won't warrant a propane bottle/adapter kit)

don't or avoid using gas pistols in really cold weather as gas seals can fail more in cold weather

(seals can and do go - but on cheap pistol you can throw away or buy another cheap mag)

You need to think what you want - yeah all of them I know

but see what you feel you want to start off with for now and see how you & your budget goes

Having spoken I just want to clarify a few points along with your extra thoughts.

1. Best place to buy a bb gun (Best customer service and value for money and reliability)

2. Deciding between a pistol or rifle- I want something that is sturdy. I especially liked the link to the pistol. I want to get something that is respected. I think most of all I want something that won't break after a few uses.

if you wanna go to the proper entry level then zero one, firesupport, land warrior, patrol base, airsoftworld.net

2 - you need to think what you want and your budget

I'm not gonna say get this and then you decide you want something totally different on a bigger budget

eg: cheap gas pistol or sniper - then you say you wanted a G&G CM M4 Carbine or Raider at Zero or LWA etc....

Which if you can afford it get a G&G to be honest

cyma 123 or 1911 is way oversized and @ £85 is overpriced as well

have one and is too bloody big for my hands

patrolbase do an ASG rebadged cyma 030 glock for £55 but will need to be painted/2-toned

(glock is the most popular and cm122, 123 & 030 use 030 mags easy to get mags)

dunno about A&K one but is out stock anyway

104 is a good cheap no frills or no blowback gas pistol holding aprox 21 or 22 per mag

HFC Stti or SRC is the make/brand - it is all the same

A serious consideration when buying a pistol - can you easily get extra mags and at what cost

luckily the 104 yes you can and quite reasonable price

have the 105 with both co2 & green gas mags - co2 is a bit too powerful to use at sites

104 & 105 take same green gas or co2 mags

A lot of stuff can bought even cheaper abroad if you get a ukara/defense one day

L85 - ICS or G&G perhaps but still £300

Army Armoument R85 is a cheaper knock off clone of G&G L85 but still not cheap

G&G M4 or Cyma AK47 or JG G36c is the usual good starter guns most start out with
