GHK Glock 17 Gen 5 Cancelled ?

That’s unfortunate. I was looking forward to it coming out. Hopefully they’ll be able to sort out whatever the issue is with Umarex and get it released. The Gen 3 is nice, but my understanding is the Gen 5 was going to have improvements to the trigger. Guess it’s a case of watch this space.

They will actually work out more expensive and it will still just be a TM with steel slide running on an internal hammer without any of the new design features of the GHK

Very true.
Looking like a gen 5 GHK is not going to be released anytime soon though, if ever, as Umarex are stopping them, unless they do it without trades.

Latest news from GHK. The gen 5 is coming but it will be aluminium slide only as Umarex wanted a lower price point. They do plan on selling the steel slide seperately though

What will be the point of selling a GHK Gen 5 with an alloy slide. They have done an alloy slide version of the Gen 3, it’s still almost £260.00, don’t know anyone who has brought one.
If they charge that for an alloy Gen 5, then another £150 or so for a steel slide, your back to the price of the steel version.
If you just want an alloy slide Gen 5 you may as well buy the standard Umarex, it’s a lot cheaper.

I’m pretty sure the ghk has a totally different bbu inside it, giving much more recoil than other pistols (if that’s your thing ). This alone sets it apart from the other contenders.
Trigger system is also supposed to have a much more realistic feel and pull to it as well
Plus, I do know that the magazines are MEGA light in comparison to others, putting much more emphasis in most of the weight of the gun being “upstairs”
I’d have bought one recently if it hadn’t been for a spontaneous opportunity to get that silly MPG thing.

I have the Gen 3, actually had a few of them, the one I kept has a reasonable trigger, and it’s worn in well. Got the full steel upgrades internally. Did try the Co2 mag kit from Samoon, but it wrecked the supposedly Co2 nozzle they provided in the kit, and I would strongly advice not to buy it.
I've had a Gen 3 for almost 2 years now, been running a CO2 kit in it with CO2 mags for 18 months with no issues (well I've had to replace some o-rings in the mags, but you expect that with CO2), I love the pistol, my only complaint is that it has ruined other airsoft pistols for me. I've heard a lot of complaints about the trigger, I've never had an issue with it, it has settled in well, much stiffer at first but now very good. Its been a while since I shot a real Glock so I really couldn't give an exact comparison, however if you are used to shooting other airsoft glocks, you will struggle with the trigger at first. Everyone I have ever let shoot it, always double racks the gun, thinking its not cocked, until I point out it has a harder trigger pull. Some Armed Police who have tried it, were very impressed with it, and had no issues with the trigger.
In regards to UMAREX wanting GHK to produce an aluminium slide version, that doesn't really make sense, VFC already produce that for UMAREX, besides UMAREX market the GHK version as a deluxe model, so having an aluminium version would detract from that. I'm not saying its not true, but it would make no sense for UMAREX to request this.
In regards to the price point compared to other glocks, if you were to say get a TM and then buy a steal slide it would almost be the same price, and that's if it even worked. They would probably struggle to cycle a steel slide in cold weather (that's when CO2 comes in handy). That's not even to take into account the internals, overmolded grip and the redesign of the top slide to incorporate an SMG nozzle into a pistol, which give it the extra power to cycle the steel slide with gas.
At the end of the day a lot of man hours went in by professionals to specifically design th GHK to handle a steel slide, as unpopular as it may sound these days, but maybe we should trust that the professionals might know what they are doing.
I also have a G34 GHK, however after only 25-30 CO2 mags, it has had a catastrophic break to the slide, with two cracks appearing (pics below). However I have contacted Samoon and In the process of sending it back to them so they can look at it and work out what has gone wrong.
In summary I have had some minor issues with the glocks, however they have been sorted out reasonably easily (except the G34 obviously, I lack the ability to weld steel). My suggestion would be to try one out (if you have a friend who has one) and see for yourself. I really hope they do release the Gen 5, the GHK website still has it as coming soon and I asked Samoon about it being cancelled at they stated they haven't heard that and should just listen to announcements from GHK.
This year I have replaced my christmas wish from Peace on earth and goodwill to all men, to simply, Please GHK release a Gen 5.
