Ghetto acog anyone?

Yo bois,

I have a 4x32 compact optic which I'm currently not using

I want to slap it onto my 12" M4, but I also want to have a close range sight (45° canted irons are useless if not for looks only)..

Is this a dumb idea? A waste of money?

Or is it a decent way to stop my 4x scope from collecting dust in a drawer?

Don't see why not. I had a 45 offset reflex sight on my DMR, worked okay - adjusted windage and elevation all the way to compensate for hop spin, but at the close ranges that I would actually use the reflex, the change in trajectory wasn't really enough to be an issue. And of course at longer ranges, I just used my scope which was set in line with the hop.
