Double Eagle M904g – Aka the Original Q Honey Badger

Hi I was looking at the M904E with this battery

https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/vp-racing-11-1v-1450mag-20c-lipo-stick-battery

Primarily for the length as I'm 5.6ft so wanted something shorter

I play outdoors with .28 so range is probably most important.

To be honest I would rather run the gun stock but having gone through the whole thread I'm abit overwhelmed by all the upgrade options. Im no techie so messing with motor is abit beyond me, would the bucking/nub be difficult to install and have a noticeable effect?

What would tou guys advice?

Very easy, do it on a nice quiet afternoon on the weekend when you're in no rush, and it's the simplest thing you can do that gives the most return (both in range and consistency).

Changing the hop rubber and nub was the first 'tech' I did in airsoft that didn't break my gun ?

It's very easy, but we can walk you through it if you need help or just confirmation you're doing it right

I have the Maple Leaf Macaron 50deg and Omega nub in place in mine, and they do a great job... The gun shoots accurately and lifts 0.32s (the heaviest I've tried) to a decent distance ... estimating 50-60m?.

I've just bought Speedbird's 904g as a donor for my 906c which has a failing Falcon unit.  He put in the zci barrel and hop unit, so I'll be able to do a small test to see whether that provides a noticeable improvement over my stock barrel and hop.

(I did an accuracy test comparison of the ML + Omega against the stock rubber and nub, and to be honest didn't notice any great difference... But then I was only shooting at ~15m which didn't give it the chance to show the improvement in range.  It'll be interesting to see if I can detect a difference with the better barrel at the short range, or I need to get it out on the field - though it will then come down to subjective 'feel' rather than objective empirical measurement of grouping)

Ok cool I think I'll do it tomorrow as it too hot to play this weekend ?. What sort of FPS should I expect running it stock with .28g? I know FPS isn't the being all and end all out but if it's fairly low I'd look into getting a spring next and people have said the stock isn't very good anyway.

I'd probably look to change the spring as well, which would you recommend? I have a spenca arms m90 already.

I can't find a 215mm inner barrel in stock and don't want to make it longer as it's small size is the main reason I got it

Hello, does anybody know the dimensions of the thread on M90X muzzle break? I only know it's compatible with the Thunder Chicken and Trash Panda silencers but i couldn't find any specification about them. I want to made and 3D print some silencers for this model on bigger thread instead of standard 14mm CCW one. I already made two but they are not straight and bbs are hitting the end of the longer one.

I can use my cheapo micrometer to measure the external dimension of the thread (it's 25.8mm) but I won't be able to tell you the thread pitch which is the other thing you'll need.  Looks very fine to me though

Thanks, I will print some test rings with different threads or just buy original muzzle brake with silencer by Q for +1100$, that's like 10x more than the whole replica... ?

doh!  I didn't even see your reply.

The OD of the threads is 21.8mm according to my calipers.

Easy mistake to make - most people are only ever interested in 14 or 16mm threads and whether they're CW or CCW.

Interesting point though - I measured the external diameter as 25.8mm.  (Just re-checked it too)

Change of design?   Or am I just shit at using measuring devices?  ;)

Well well well, looks like I actually got close, if not right!  Wonders will never cease ?

Total disclosure, mine read at 25.7 the first time I re-checked, the second time at 25.8.

I guess 25.7 or 25.8 depending on which might be an actual recognised standard thread size?

The stock spring losses oomph quite quickly in my experience, so the original FPS is rather lost in the mists of time.

Getting around 260 with the correct hop applied now (which lowers the FPS quite a bit).  Not sure what spring is inside!

I think I had an m105 in my 906c when I first changed out the stock spring, it'll be in one of my old threads

I get around 250-260fps from memory on 0.28s with the hop set, that is on the stock spring.

Just chiming in my experience with handling this gun: it doesn't taking modding very well. The plastic piston head will break if you put anything more than a m110 in it and the gearbox is a bit swiss cheese as it is concerningly easy to file down. The hop unit is also somewhat propietary as the bb tube is placed a bit closer to the gearbox compared to other aftermarket units which can create feeding and fps issues. Currently, i'm havng issues with getting a perun to work in it (because precock), likely due to the sensor positioning as the screw holes are slightly off spec, and you also have to file down a circular screw holder because it gets in the way. The piston is not resetting in the same position every time, leading to feeding issues, firing a BB once every 3/4 shots which is unuseable.

All in all, it's good for the price and it performs well but only if you don't mess with the gearbox as it's really only rated for what it can already handle.

So would you recommend a m105?

Heh, thought i'd bump this up as mine has become my "back up" pew that comes with me in case one of the mains play up/die on us during the day.

So far we've used it on every outing, aug being too hot (0.1J over  ) and the boys mp5 losing its battery cover again.

It refuses to die and is as solid as a rock.

Im thinking about lobbing a warhead at it (not too mad but more than the OEM motor) and have heard that the falcon and the warheads dont always get on. It may be time for a service on it too, with the amount of rounds that have gone though it!! :D

Roll the dice and let us know ?

Seriously though, after buying an AK2M4 brushless and the Falcon controller telling it to ef off (it's now in my MP5K and the trigger response on 7.4v is instant), I want to get a Warhead Base and try it. I'm hoping that the firmware in their speed controller has something magical, but if not there are other plastic ball shooting toys I can put it in.
