 My son has had this gun for Christmas.  There is no instructions with it. We have worked out most of it out but can't figure out what this is for. Can anyone help. Probably a silly question but new to all this.

Its a mock 'forward assist' from the real rifle.

It has no function in the airsoft version.

Read up on cleaning the barrel as its recommended with a new pew.
