Does anyone else think ukara registration should include a crb check? Some of the older guys at airsoft are a bit creepy,

Just because someone comes across Creepy to you dosen't mean they are to everyone else, It isn't a Hobby just for younger people.

Including a CRB check in the UKARA process would add at least an additional six weeks to the application process and that's if it's processed quickly. Some can take up to six months!

it would be a waste of time. because ukara is not the be all and end all when it comes to the law.

I dont think it should be required with UKARA, it'd be a waste of time. However for staff, marshalls etc- then yes maybe it is a good idea?

For staff to legally run games with children/teens unaccompanied by their parents they have to be CRB checked. That's why a lot of sites won't allow under 18's among various other reasons.

It's not needed for players. If you were to apply a rule like that it just wouldn't be practical or in anyway necessary. Imagine having to get CRB checked for every sport or hobby you do.

Irritating thing with CRB checks is that it only covers one job. For example, if I had a CRB check done as a teacher, I would have to get another one done for being a marshal. I may be wrong, but that's what I've been told by marshals and site owners who already had been CRB checked.

I can understand it for site organisers/staff, but bit of a ridiculous idea for players! If you're going to CRB check everyone who plays airsoft, then you'd need to CRB check everyone with a hobby that appeals to people of different ages! There goes Sunday league football.

Better not mention it anyway - don't you have to pay for a CRB check? That's an awesome revenue stream for the govt. if all of a sudden millions of hobbyists are have to stump up cash! Might give them ideas!!!!

Yeah it's a couple of hundred quid for a CRB.

The sport would probably be ruined if we had to fork out hundreds of pounds just to be able to buy RIFS.

TBH I never even had a CRB when i was a referee.

To the question in hand, UKARA is a defence against purchasing a RIFS. Why do we have to go get a certificate that we don't touch up kiddies in our spare time, to be able to purchase these :P

yeah I was kind of mainly thinking about marshall's and orgnaisers really. At a sight in kent I used all staff were older men, and were getting quite close to younger guys, just makes you think. A peado would know airsoft is popular among teenage boys, so perfect unchecked meeting ground!!!!!!! I agree defo no crb check to purchase

Is it somewhere out in the sticks? Sounds like walking in to a small village pub in the middle of no where to walk out 30 seconds later. Doesn't mean they're creepy.

dunno my mate felt really uncomfortable!

it doesn't but it wasn't just me that felt they were creepy, and not all older guys are my dad's not!!!! You weren't one of them ???
Can't say I've ever really heard any concern about peados in regards to airsoft. I don't think it's an issue.

There's something about someone who was staff at the stan or something but that's all I've heard about anything like that in airsoft.

I think there has been a misunderstanding.. lets just leave it at that. Onwards..

I missed the party I take it?

I must say that I'm confused as to what John McAleese being accused of downloading kiddie porn has to do with airsofters who may or may not be involved in the sport with the intention of getting close to youngsters for the purpose of illegally having sex with them. I mean, I know it's the fashionable thing to throw all critical thinking to the wind when discussing anything even remotely connected to paedophilia and to conflate a look or gesture which somebody feels uncomfortable about with bumsecks, but I'm sorry people, for the life of me I just cannae dae it, Cap'n! Ya cannae break the laws o' physics, Cap'n!

Ian , mcalees was accused of child sex offences but he worked unchecked as a airsoft instructor allowing at fone game sites unchecked unsupervised contact with people under 18. As for not letting people feel uncomfortable about someone's suggestive remarks, looks, actions, contact think thats how the whole jimmy saville thing carried on for so long... Why do some people get annoyed on here for simply asking that if airsoft saville and staff etc that have contact with under 18's should be crb checked!!?? I cant understand the problem,

Meant to be airsoft marshalls not airsoft saville cant predictive text! Airsoft saville is a worrying idea but maybe a good idea for a fugitive style game

My opinion - I suggest you don't take what the Daily Mail writes too genuinely. Find a better source.
