Hi everyone, I'm completly new to this, as you can see !

Been interested for years but never done anything about it, until now.

Basically my mate has gone travelling, and to free up his mums house, he gave me and another friend his beloved airsoft gear. Erm a cyma colt m4 and a classic army tac carbine?

Seen loads of his videos and it looks like a real good laugh.

He warned me about the whole ukara thing, so not to sell his guns!

We were going to visit the mall in reading? And give it a go, shot myself in the big toe with the m4 by accident! Won't be doing that again!

He gave us a run down on the gear, bb's, guns, glasses, batteries etc.

Question is, how does the game work? Like when your hit, I'm after a dummies guide to how a team death match works (sorry cod there!) and they will chronograph his guns on the day? No idea what he ment! So yeah any help is much appricated!

hi and welcome

At the site I play at when it's a shout of ''HIT'' and and hand up in the air to show the person/s that you are hit and you walk of back to your spawn spot ( might be an idea to keep your hand raised too on way back). Other sites may be different not sure but that is the basic jist of taking a hit in airsoft. My local site also chronos all the walk on guns (non hired) for the fps being 350 for AEG, 400 for bolt action sniper rifle but this is a woodland site. CQB site may be lower not sure as not played a CQB site yet. Also when you get there just ask players that are there for a heads up on what goes on I'm sure you'll get some pointers. Hope this is a start for you and good luck

Also may be a good idea for you and your mate to get a UKARA, if you decide you want to carry on playing for a few months even years it will make buying a new RIF alot easier later on. Play your 3 games in NO LESS THAN 3 MONTHS then apply. Then you can buy a shiney new gun of your choice. Hope this helps you out

It's no less than 2 months, not three.

So the 3 games you play to get your UKARA registration would have to be more than 2 months apart, from the first to the third visit.

Chronographing guns is what we do to measure the feet per second the BBs are fired at, different airsoft sites have different limits, it's down the person who owns the gun to ensure their gun is firing within the allowed limit.

As for how to play team death match, it will all be explained on the day, but you declare yourself hit by raising your hand and yelling 'HIT' so the person who shot you can hear you. It's all very simple :)

I bet a BB to the big toe effing hurt lol, not managed to do that to myself yet haha.

Welcome to the forums.

Yup sorry was a typo is 2 months as Ed said was late last night when put it on

the mall is an absolutely sick sight to play at! definitely recommend it, me and my mate play there so might see you there one day!

Thanks for all your help guys! So they won't mind us having our own guns, even though we've never played, as the saying goes, all the gear no idea lol

And would you recommend full face, or just goggles?

For CQB I would recommend full face. But personally, I'd probably still just run with goggles.

You run the risk of having your teeth shot out if you don't cover your whole face, even in large outdoor areas, but especially in CQB. Full face masks restrict your ability to aim and shoulder most weapons though, as well as slightly reducing your field of view.

I prefer to be fully aware of my surroundings and be able to aim my rifle properly, since I only carry 30 round magazines, so I need to be able to aim to make my shots count!

its up to you on glasses or full face, some face masks restrict viewing down the sight and can also make it harder to breath due to the carbon dioxide build up.if you play without a mask i would reccomend a 2 piece gum shield as you do not want a chip off your tooth and thats from experience (re shaping of tooth then root canal £600 and hurts like f**k)

Whats all this medic thing about?

And where do you need to be hit for a kill?

One more, when your out what happens, you just walk off?

Some games you have medic rules. If you are hit, a medic on your team (usually a guy with a white armband) can revive you by holding your shoulders and counting to 5 or 10.

Any hit is a "kill" whether it's head, torso or limbs. Even if it clips my trousers I tend to call it. It's called the honours system because you have to play with honour and integrity.

When you're hit you either call for a medic (you can't go to them, they come to you or a team mate pulls you to them if you're in the line of fire (don't want the medic to get hit as he can't then fix up the restof you!) or go to your re-spawn point to regenerate. Sometimes there is a "bleed out" time limit where you can fall back 20m and rejoin the game if there's no medic nearby etc. Depends on the site rules and the particular game. At my site we do a variety of different scenarios, some there is no regen - you're hit, you're out - go back to the safe zone and wait for the next game. This is usually just a warm up game, Some games there is regen for all but the last 15 minutes or so, some games there are medic rules (see above).

Hope that helps.

Thanks guys, one more question, semi auto is that single fire? And do you have to keep winding the mag up?

Semi auto.means it will fire one round for every trigger pull until empty.

If it has a high cap mag then yes you will still have to wind :)

Thanks mate, so the mid cap mags you don't have to keep winding
