Hi im Kevin and thank you for having me on the forum. My background into shooting was competing in FT competitions in the recoilling class. These days i like to shoot targets in my back garden using my HFC HA116 spring airsoft pistol its the Sig P226 version. I have always been a fan of airsoft so I thought why not join the forum and gain some advice and knowledge and maybe choose an upgrade pistol.😊

Welcome 🖐️
Gas blowbacks (GBB) are more fun but cost more of course.
Airsoft is fun for plinking but would likely be frustrating if accuracy is the main goal.

Thank you for the welcome. Accuracy isn't issue as my targets are large enough to hit and sometimes i shoot into a catch box. A GBB is my goal but I will need to join a club to able to purchase one.

Not really - you can buy one and get the slide painted by a retailer 'two tone' right now, before you gain an airsoft 'defence' - UKARA will take three games over a minimum of two months to gain, and is the most commonly used defence in airsoft, but there are other options - plenty of info on the forum. Alternatively, if it is for back garden plinking only, the C02 .177 steel BB guns are an option, but they need to be purchased in person from a retailer. They also tend to be a little more accurate than their airsoft cousins.

A gbb is definitely more satisfying to shoot than a springer and will be a bit a bit more powerful too. How much more will depend on what gas you use and the air temperature.

As @The_Lord_Poncho posted you'd only need site membership if you want to get a realistically coloured pistol. If you don't mind having at least half the gun painted a bright colour then you only need to be over 18 (which I'm guessing you are). I would recommend trying out a game though as it's a very different experience when the targets can shoot back

Thanks i wont be using pistols that use co2 capsules as i hate steel BBs and most replicas that are made by Umarex and others are not authentic enough. Airsoft I think are more like the real steel and green gas i like to use.

Some airsoft pistols use CO2 capsules. I use a CO2 ASG XP18 Commander for airsoft.
