Where’s the best place to find swat police style uniforms I’ve been looking for a while now and can only find small bits (I’d like to get it as close as without breaking the law)

I don't know if you know but a swat loadout could run up into the region of £700.

Just for the uniform? I’m not too bothered about the guns

Just avoid anything that mentions police or something similar, like armed response.

Hopefully it's obvious, but you need to be careful you're not found to be imitating an officer.

@Rogerborg might be able to lend some knowledge law help here?

Ok thanks I’ll get something put on where it says airsoft or not an actual police officer  thanks

It actually does not matter if it says "Police" as long as it's worn only at events and you do not attempt to convince people you are a police officer . The Offense of imitating a police officer is quite specific with regards to it being a result of actions more than a result of clothing and insignia

Patrol Store is brilliant for this sort of stuff! They provide kit for real coppers and security personnel alike so it's all of decent quality too plus the guy who runs it is a top bloke.

Search the forum for Police/CTSFO/SWAT loadouts and read the few lengthy threads that go through everything in depth. I posted a couple of websites on one recently that provide kit.

Winner.  Intent is required.  "Any person who, not being a constable, wears any article of police uniform in circumstances where it gives him an appearance so nearly resembling that of a member of a police force as to be calculated to deceive shall be guilty of an offence"

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1996/16/section/90

However, there's a catch all for simple possession: "Any person who, not being a member of a police force or special constable, has in his possession any article of police uniform shall, unless he proves that he obtained possession of that article lawfully and has possession of it for a lawful purpose, be guilty of an offence"

The good news is that the case law on that is Cooke vs DPP 2015 which opined that:

"For my part, I accept that the lawful purpose or purposes for which articles of police uniform are obtained and possessed must be a positive purpose. I do not, however, accept that that purpose must be narrowly construed. Articles of police uniform can lawfully be possessed for a wide variety of purposes, other than the performance of police duty. The following is a non-exhaustive list: theatrical, film or TV performance by actors (amateur and professional) in the role of a police officer; wearing at fancy dress parties and similar events; collection and display in a museum; private collection for personal enjoyment;"

tl;dr version - you're fine to obtain, possess and wear police uniform if there's no intent to deceive, and you're possessing it for a purpose such as an airsoft event.  Just be prepared to explain that purpose, don't keep it with you unless travelling to or from an event, and I'd suggest that you don't wear and certainly don't display it while travelling, regardless of the strict legality of that.

as an alternative to what potentially contravenes UK law, why not go with a decent black loadout, & instead of using police logo's, get some non uk alternatives, you've already mentioned SWAT which is obviously a us based specialized unit, there's also DEA, CIA, FBI/HRT, & numerous other units, I even remember a few players doing a Brazilian specialist unit (whose name escapes me), & that way even if pics end on social media, as often happens ?, you wont get a knock on the door from UK plod.

(although the CIA might grab you, rendition you to Egypt & treat to numerous spring water facials ?)

See, I told you that Roger was the man for this thread :)
Mate, If I'm ever unfortunate enough to get nicked for anything, I'm gonna get Rog to represent me ?

I always imagine him to be like Joe Pesci in My Cousin Vinnie ?

Nah , more like ‘Leo Getts’ from Lethal weapon !

Sad because true.

For the love of God, don't take anything that you read on a forum as legal advice.  I'm only vaguely law enforcement adjacent: if you get tugged by the fuzz, give your name and address and then the only words out of your mouth are "Duty solicitor, please and thank you."

Nothing so exciting.  Police computer systems, which involve steering them on what information they need to record for given crimes.  You'd be amazed how much the average copper isn't taught about the law.  You could fill books with it, and they have, and I've had to read them.
