Ares M45 help

Hi guys. I bought my son an M45. It lost power so I gave it back to my local dealer who passed it on to his Tech guy. The Tech replaced something and said it was fixed. Son took it to an airsoft game at the weekend and says it fires one bb then it stops firing. 
 

I’ve no experience with airsoft guns. I’ve taken a look and can see something in the magazine port View attachment 146152that’s at an angle. I’d assume this should be straight? Can anyone confirm please? TIA.

Hi Mike

I maybe giving you totally wrong info but as a noob, I’ve been using an M4 for look last couple of games and it stopped firing & then started firing all in its own, turned out I’m too bloody heavy handed and knackered the OE trigger, I’ve since had it upgraded to remove the mechanical element!

like I say I’m a noob so just getting my head around it, could it be the same issue??

So, the gun actually fires. The problem is the bb’s are not feeding in and so they’re not firing out. My son says after inserting the magazine the gun fired one, maybe two bb’s then none. 
 

Im thinking it’s something to do with the part I’ve pictured that is at an angle. But need this confirmed if possible.

It looks like the little feed tube for the hop unit is broken/pissed.

Thanks mate. I thought it didn’t look right. Are they easy to remove? I have visions of opening it up and springs flying out everywhere lol

So I’ve opened it up and it was the feed tube that was wonky. I can straighten it with my finger. But I tightened it and it went back into the wonky position. Any ideas?

No personal experience with that type of RIF, but looking at how it is assembled, potentially place a slither of something under the lowest side (of that weird two part hop unit  - no idea why Ares have used that design - very out of date) before those two screws are tightened? A bit of aluminium from a cut up coke can might do it for example, or even some card.

First of can you not throw it back at the so called 'tech'?  Second option buy a new hop unit.  If theres a shop near yu they should have them and will probably fit it for you if you ask nicely..

So, i’ve took the feed tube out. It split apart whilst doing that (why design them like that ?‍). There was a natural bend in it, so it was never wonky. I’ve gently reinstalled it and it looks good. Test fire is same result. Bb is going into the feed tube but the bb just sits there and doesn’t fire. Back to the shop on Saturday. They can deal with it.

What if you install it turned 180°? Will the bottom of it be straight in the magwell and line up better?

Did your tech instal a new hop up rubber/bucking do you know? It might possibly be that if he has e.g. put in a Maple Leaf bucking, they have longer lips which can prevent feeding. Do you have access to several different makes of BB? Might be worth trying another type as well - especially if your BBs that you current have are Bio's and they are rather old (they can swell with age/moisture content).

Did your tech instal a new hop up rubber/bucking do you know? It might possibly be that if he has e.g. put in a Maple Leaf bucking, they have longer lips which can prevent feeding. Not quite sure what he replaced. Only charged £10 so assume it wasn’t anything major.

It looks like the tube wouldn’t line up if I install it at 180 degree. From the test fire, the bb went into the tube. It just didn’t shoot out. I’m thinking it’s now the firing mechanism that’s broken.

So, after doing a bit more research, I’m now pretty convinced the problem is the tappet plate on the gearbox. No chance I can fix that so it’s back to the shop on Saturday. Thanks everyone who tried to help.
