Aluminium Black, a test

I was told about this stuff from a friend, so I though I’d give it a try on a scruffy TM PX4 mag.

Prep is easy, a very light sand with 2000 grit wet & dry, then a wipe down with alcohol to make sure the ally has no oxidation.

Apply (wearing gloves, it’s toxic) using a cotton ear bud. It’s a clear liquid, you can go over the area a few times if you want.

Leave for a short while, wipe of the excess fluid, you’re done.

Two mags, almost identical condition to start with, the treated mag is on the left.

It also works perfectly touching up rub marks on slides/frames/sights etc?

not bad, i like how it maintains a little bit of patina.

personally i like a bit of battering on a gun

Good work. That's a nice finish. I wonder how it wears.

This reminds me of when I discovered CapeCod Cloths and buffed everything I could find into a mirror.

What can you black next? :D

????

I’m actually going to do my old WE 1911, the entire gun, once I’ve stripped all the paint, and see how it comes out. I think it’s got potential to make boring black painted ally slides look pretty good

I used that stuff on my pdw. Looked great for a few weeks but now looks a bit shit.

Might have done something wrong tho tbh, pretty much just slapped it on.
