Hey there

I'm posting this thread to see how many people would be interested in AK to NATO thread adapters. Either 24 or 22 down to 14ccw for NATO muzzle devices.

I've got access to a lathe and need one myself as one of the AK muzzle brakes I ordered is in 14ccw so disappointingly doesn't fit my AK. Had a quick google search and most results either came up out of stock or overpriced for what they are. It's completely possible I'm searching in the wrong place but regardless, is this something any of you lot are interested in?

-Small note to mods, not selling as of yet but if this takes off I will take this to the classifieds : )

Maybe you're in the same situation as me or you think you'd like the look of your Russian RIF with that NATO can (looking cool is 90% of this hobby) or you feel like doing something just outright cursed to your AK. The other way is also an option, 14ccw up to 24/22. Just here to gauge interest at the moment so no promises.

Thank you for any feedback you guys can give me. Hell, even some pointers on some that are in stock. If so, I'm UK based. I'm aware of the Ares Amoeba adapters (22 to 14) but I feel like if they did fit AK muzzles, they'd be marketed as being useful for that aswell(?) if you catch my drift

It'll be tricky to make an adapter from a larger diameter to a smaller one that's relatively discreet tbh.

At that point you're probably better off just getting one in the correct size.

The Cyma AKS-74U (CM045) comes with one that basically an internally and externally threaded collar. It's do-able.

It's completely doable IMO, there's examples of them but not readily available from the quick research I've done. Just wondering if it would be popular enough to market.

Although I see you have an LCT, in that case I don't think yours can accept 14mm ccw stuff natively...

Who's got the LCT?

Yeah it's easier to make a 24mm adapter that fits on top of a 14mm thread than the other way around.

It sounded like OP was suggesting the other way around.

It was referred to the OP, who happens to have "lct ak105" written on his profile..

He could also source another barrel and have the m14 ccw thread cut on the existing 24mm

@Skara could source a new barrel, hadn't considered that and that could be fun to mess about with. Currently very jealous of your AKSU with both options available to you. Nice build btw.

@Lyndication had it right, I'm suggesting a 24 necked down to 14. To me, this seems easy but I'm new to the whole metal working area. Certainly seems easier and more convenient than swapping barrels between which muzzle device I want to use. How come you're saying it'll be a harder job?

Thank you

Job itself will be a piece of cake.

It'll just inevitably result in an odd looking collar on the muzzle, which may put off those more autistic about toy gun realism.

In my head, those who are autistic about toy gun realism wouldn't be fussed about throwing a 556 can or vice versa. I think just having the option available would be nice and I don't see many 22 to 14 adapters on the market. For those with LCTs like me who cant remove the 22 thread like those with the Cyma 045, I think it could be good.

From my first thoughts on design, I believe that visually, it'll look like a slightly longer muzzle device. 40mm length seems like the average for adapters that I've come across so far so I don't think it'll be an eye sore on the RIF.

22 or 24? If you mean 24 then there is this https://www.firesupport.uk/silverback-srs-14mm-adaptor-for-sbaobl09-gspec-barrel.html

If you in fact meant 22 then there's this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Action-Army-Airsoft-Silencer-Adaptor/dp/B07BRXC76T

Also - I take it you have checked that the 24mm thread on your LCT isn't actually an adaptor? I recall that some of them come with a threaded adaptor like the Cyma ones, you just need to find the grub screw that stops it coming off.

Yeah sorry, definitely 24. Did double check both my AKs, neither of them have adapters like the Cyma's do. Very much appreciate the SRS adapter link, that is exactly what I was planning to make and somehow didn't come across it in my (admittedly quick) search

I’ve run into the same issue — a lot of AK-pattern guns here come with 24mm or 22mm threads, and trying to run NATO-spec muzzle devices (14mm CCW) on them turns into a scavenger hunt. Either you find some overpriced CNC piece from halfway across the world, or it’s out of stock. I’ve looked into Ares/Amoeba too, and yeah — they’re mostly for their own platforms, not true AK threading.

Adapters both ways (24/22 to 14, and vice versa) would have a solid niche. Especially for people trying to slap on suppressors, comps, or even tracer units that are all 14mm CCW by default. Plus, the whole cursed AK aesthetic with a NATO can is chef’s kiss.

NATO spec isn't 14CCW btw, that's just the standard for most Airsoft guns. There's no such thing as a NATO spec for muzzle devices.

Real AR muzzle devices are 1/2′′x28. HK ones tend to be M15.

Just me using a collective term, you are right though. It's the phrase I had in mind. I appreciate it and that's a cool piece of information to know. Thank you

EXACTLY. I figured this idea could fill in a niche that some people (me) need filled. Whether it's for cans, comps, cursed builds or tracers I think it could make a few people happy. Looking at that SRS 24-14 adapter has me thinking of buying them in bulk and cutting the pin notch that AK muzzle devices have then hiking up the price but I don't think I'll be that evil. Like you said, most of them are overpriced and/or half way across the world so to have it be true AK threading and a decent price would be the goal. Making them wouldn't be too hard. Stainless steel and labour would be the only real costs for this project
