551 sight battery help?

I have a new Eotech 551. It claims to take 4x LR44 batteries.

It only actualy seesm to take 2 of them

It works but is very dim compared to my Eotech 552 that has a pair of`AA Batteries.

Does anyone else have any experience with a 551?

Are they dimmer? Are my batteries crap? Should it have 2 or 4 of them?

Definitely takes 4 batteries, 2 on each side - they are a pain to put in. I ended up taping two together to make it easier. All the one's I've had or sold have been very bright...

thought so, it seems to be the springs in the battery holder are too strong.

They are even harder to get out..

OK wrapped pairs of batteries in tape, compressed the springs so they aren't as tall and 4 batteries went in easy.

Nice and bright now.
