  1. Hello I've recently carried out an upgrade on my stock Specna Arms SA E08, upgraded to 13:1 shs gears, XT high torque motor 22TPA, new piston heads, costed around 65£, motor was only 30£. It was absolutely worth it, trigger response was amazing even without precocking. With precocking, the shots are almost instant. Though i haven't tried the gun in a full game day yet but everything has been working well so far. Mosfet, im using Perun ab++. I'd highly recommend buying parts from ak2m4, the XT brand parts are super cheap but also of good quality and also cheap next day delivery. The customer service is amazing, the guy will give you as much help as you need and answer everything.

Absolutely blew my head sanding 2-3mm off base plate made the temp go from 75degrees way down to 35 max.

Exactly this! The guy at ak2m4 told me to try to find the perfect height with my thumb and found out that the base plate was too thick even when the middle screw was taken out, sanding it down made it work without overheating.

Unfortunately no, I've reached out to him and he offered for me to send it back so he can run some tests on it, i managed to lower the temperature of it by a 5 degrees though it still reaches around 75 degrees with 1 mag of quick semi. The motor itself looks high quality and strong magnets too, im guessing it may be a defect in the motor or something else wrong with my setup, which i've spent the past few hours tying to figure out still came to 0 conclusion. If ak2m4 finds no defect in the motor, worst scenario i'll just go back to my stock set up or take it to an airsoft store to get it fitted which I'd expect to be PRICEYY. Hopefully it's a motor problem.

    Gears and motor

i see it doesnt really affect functionality so i'll just stick with it Bit of a bigger problem though is that I've noticed very fast heating of the motor, we talking about 35 to 40 shots of semi. I fitted my stock motor(14tpa) back in and it wasn't overheating, which is so weird cause surely the stronger motor would strain less? Any ideas whats causing it?

Yep @Colin Allenwas kind enough to send me a perun ab++, so should work fine wwith 11.1V batteries

Cool thank you will give it a bit of adjust later. In regards to the air nozzle sticking out is that normal?

    Gears and motor

Cheers, i think i've done it right, the gun currently sounds like this, is that somewhat a good shimming job? IMG_1564.mov Also i noticed my first shot after loading in mag doesn't fire anything the nozzle seems to be pushing forwards a little bit, could it be the cause of new piston?
  9. Got it just ordered some 11.1v from the website, should work fine.

    Gears and motor

Could you elaborate more on not shimming the sector gear too high? As in don't shim the tappet plate too close to the gearbox shell? If the tappet sits flat on the sector gear and not bend upwards is that a sign of good position? Yep just ordered some new 11.1v.

    Gears and motor

Perfect thank you for your help mate. Parts arriving tomorrow hopefully all goes well. yep okay, i've heard shs gears are quite durable just wanted to get a second opinion and now i won't be overthinking about the gears blowing up.
  12. Oh awesome half the price. Any problems with overheating and such at all? what about the gate x asr2 is that any good compared to my x asr?
  13. Yep waiting for akm4 to ship it out now, hopefully it works. Any particular mosfet you'd recommend? Also are there any websites for cheaper nuprol batteries, 11.1v seems to be a bit pricy on amazon for only around 1200mah,

As i've heard 11.1v could burn out my x axr mosfet, strain the motor, gears more, and also just haven't bought one yet.
  15. Hi all, Wanted to get some advice from experienced aeg owners about gear ratios. Basically im upgrading my motor from specna arms stock to xt high torque 22tpa, but im really stuck between 13:1 or 16:1 gears, as i want good trigger response but don’t want to stress the motor too much, especially when I’m running 7.4lipo. What would be recommend for best trigger response? (Rof can be ignored, as i only use semi) Sorry if this had already been asked, as i couldn’t find anything on this particular combination
  16. Hi all, After a bit of research, I've ordered a XT high torque motor 22TPA, with some 13:1 shs gears, running with 7.4v lipo(only have one battery at the moment). Is this a good combination or would 16:1 gears be recommended over 13:1? Currently have stock 18:1. planning on getting Brushless motors when I've saved up more further down the road of airsoft ( the upgrade is with goal to improve trigger response and snapyness. ROF less of a priority)
  17. Have you personally tried it? How is it in terms of reliability as @Skarahas mentioned. Right got it. Mainly just want to improve the feel and playing experience(trigger response) with the gun really, and make it nice and satisfying to play with. Thought upgrading the motor would be a simple one as i can literally pull it out of the bottom.
  18. Would you have any recommendations for good motor upgrades? there seems to be a lot of motors that says high torque so I’m not sure which to get, something around 50£ and would be a decent upgrade from stock motors. I mainly fire semi auto as I play in an indoor site so rof would be less important, mainly want an upgrade for trigger response and get rid of the cheap aeg noise.
  19. Ok will give that a try I seem to only see tiny allen screws on the sides and bottom of handguard, can't see any big bolts that seem to be holding it in would i possibly be on the inside? Thank you i'll have a watch through
  20. No, i didn't mess with that part of the gun, i had only taken apart the gear box and rearwards of the gun. Heres a picture taken from the centre, it might be unclear, but you can kind of see a wider gap on the right than the left, does it really matter? The handguard also wobbles very slightly, unnoticeable when playing. No i have not, i shall give it a try thanks.
  21. Hi all, Just got my first gun and shimmed it following tutorials. However after reassembling i notice the outer barrel of the gun isn't sitting in the centre of the handrails, it's not loose or touch the sides, just doesn't sit in the very centre. Was wondering if more experienced guys in here would know if it affects accuracy performance etc? Also after shimming the gears, there was a noticeable improvement in trigger response, but i can't seem to make it sound like those guns on youtube that sounds like "pop" instead of motor noises. Have i done the shimming wrongly or could it be my motor? I have the Specna arms SA-E08, with specna arms high torque motor (not sure specific model). Cheers
