That is because by installing the delayer chip you caused timing issues.

What was happening inside your gearbox was that the piston was being released while the nozzle was still travelling forward (a delayer chip, well, delays the tappet plate release point and in most cases it anticipates its pickup).

Since the system wasn't sealed (nozzle needs to insert into the hop rubber to seal) you'd lose air and get inconsistent, lower FPS readings.

10 FPS is still 3 m/s which means your air seal still isn't optimal, but that's a whole different story.

Actually I did not install the delayer chip, I removed it. After I removed it the fps dropped. That delayer chip came installed on the OEM 18:1 gears that were on my gearbox, and when I installed the new 13:1 gears, I did not use the delayer chip on the sector gear, and that was when the fps dropped. I know that the delayer was changing the timing between the piston and the tappet plate/nozzle, but if that timing was wrong, why was my fps higher?

  2. Hi,

I have just finished assembling my AEG after changing the gears to improve the trigger response, and something weird and new happened. After I changed the original 18:1 gears to 13:1, there was a fps drop of around 10-15 fps. I've used the exact same parts as before, and nothing was changed besides the gears, and I double checked every o ring, joint etc so I know it is not an air leak issue. I was trying to figure out what could be wrong, when I remembered that the original sector gear had a delayer on it (cam chip), and the new gear that came in the 13:1 kit did not. So I came to the conclusion that since the delayer was not being used, the alignment between the tapet plate and the piston was different, and for that reason I was losing compression. But the funny thing is, the fps readings are more consistent now, before I was getting a 20-25fps diference between the max and min readings, and now I get a 10 fps fluctuation, but most of the time it is 5fps. I have decided to not use the delayer on the sector gear, since I am not having any feed issues and it is not a high ROF build, and I prioritize consistency.

Any other reason I should think for that fps loss?

C'mon there must be some rules surely.where do you play? Would like to know just so I  dont go there! Lol

    Is it in England?

I play in Brazil, in a facility that is used for training cops and military personnel... when I say no rules, I mean the fps is not regulated, they say assault rifles not over 400 fps, but most guys stretch it a little or even a lot.

Chap has a Portuguese username and Portugal has a fair few no-rules sites.

You are right, but I live in Brazil, not Portugal
