Yet another scammer. This time from another forum, but spreading the word as far and wide as i can.

I deleted the link he sent me so i didn't accidently open it, so i dont know how it works. He may have been after my banking information, or he may have pretending to pay to get the item to sell on.

I got stung for £90 recently, seemed genuine until it wasn't and now I've no hope of getting it back. Probably didn't have the item in the 1st place. How these people sleep at night is beyond me

Mind if we ask for a bit more info please Barny, not wishing to rub salt in the wounds, but having bought a rif from you previously, I know how stringent you are on the details.
So anything to prevent anyone else falling in to the same trap is appreciated

It'll read plain as day, but for some reason I just went with it...

One of the many WhatsApp airsoft groups I'm in a chap Matt had listed a Warrior Recon plate carrier for sale. I saw the add, dismissed it as it was too much for me at the time, it was over well £100 and I didn't NEED it, just wanted it.

A while later, week ,days not sure it popped up again. This time posted for £90 so I messaged him directly explaining I'm interested and would be in contact after work as i don't get time during the day to fart arse about with such things. I had to go food shopping after work so kinda forgot with all the fuss with that. Checked phone later to find a message from him asking what time i was free. So we sorted the finer details then he let slip his 'Paypal is fkd is it ok to do bank transfer' - normally this would trigger alarm bells, sadly ive also been in this position and in my keenness to secure the deal went along with it. Paid the gimp, asked to be kept up to date with progress and all seemed fine. He did say it wont get posted till the end of the week and this all started Monday eve.

From then on i was ignored, and still am to this day a month or so later. I chased on thursaday morning, then again thursday eve. Then again friday morning, got a response but full of shite. Then nothing from then on.

Notified the WhatsApp group admin the following friday, who got him kicked out of most groups promptly and offered as much support as they could, another admin contacted him directly, she got fobbed off with 'a death in the family' and would make contact with me soon. He didn't.

Another guy in the group contacted me to say he had been in contact with Matt and got the same bullshit storey. Matt even exclaimed to him that he wasn't a scammer.

And yet, here we are

Thanks for sharing mate, sucks for you, but good to see people from the groups trying to push the shithead to sort it out, the fact that his number is still active may indicate that he's opportunistic twat rather than a dedicated scammer, he might have second thoughts if enough people harass him ?🤞

The obvious lesson to anyone else reading this, if you're contemplating bank transfer or F&F etc, consider only spending what you can afford to lose 🤔

Do you know what site the turd plays at? (Assuming he actually plays). If so it might be worth posting this on their social media pages, maybe a little shaming in front of those who know him personally will help show him the error of his ways

Another reminder to never use bank transfer no matter how good the sob story is, sadly.

It's a sign of the times I guess, there's scammers everywhere now. Vinted and the like are rife with it right now. AI pictures, lying about materials and brands, dropshipping fake rip-offs of real articles.

Erodes trust in other people a lot.

I sold a something with PayPal goods and services, the customer said they weren't happy. ( I sent working video, and believed it to be fine or would never have sold it) They put in a dispute with PayPal, I had immediately offered to refund them and asked they post it back. (I also paid postage both ways) PayPal said there was no compulsion on the buyer to return the "faulty" goods. Luckily the buyer did return the goods, or I'd have been totally screwed. But it's left me a lot more cautious now.
I also bought something off eBay that wasn't as advertised and didn't fit my rifle, seller refused a return and would not reply to my messages. eBay didn't help, but PayPal refunded me eventually.

Could you contact your bank and request they do a charge back as goods not received

I treid, think i possibly went down the wrong route with them as said it was fraud. That has a £100 excess so it cancelled it out

@Cannonfodder - Sadly no, cant find him on f/book or socials either
