The Daytona Build

Well, ORGA make them in all the normal lengths. As do PDI for the 6.08s. Just don't get the Delta Strike because of the plastic window as previously mentioned. Don't worry about getting it cut - you'll get it right first time if you just measure it.

Mine was about 4cm longer than it should have been as it's a 500mm, but the idea always was that would go inside a thread adapter anyway for the amplifier so it's perfect now.

Also, funny story.

Got back on saturday from picking the scuba bottle up after its test.

Plopped it down in the hallway and mildly opened the valve. "Bare in mind the misus was about 4 foot away"

If the phrase blown away could have been used, it was then !

The misus fell backwards, while screaming. It was like slow motion matrix style movie.

The blinds flying all over the place, women screaming with hair waving in the slight storm and the screach of air passing the tiny nozzle.

Good job she was in a good mood haha, also very good for removing dust if anyone struggles with large open spaces  !

Yeah, well i have a noveski sound hog. If i can find a way to even slightly alter the outer barrel lengh without a fugly adapter poking around.

Many choices and one way to do things.

Arent WE 416s CCW and the sound hog CW? If so, I got an outer-barrel extension that converted my WOC to CCW and was the same width and finish as the existing barrel. Got it from Airsoft Machine Shop, but their web store seems to be closed now. Also they get a lot of mixed reviews on their higher end work, but I guess they can't really screw up a barrel extension. May be worth contacting them.

Its not a standard barrel dude, the old owner had a custom ris and barrel installed. Hence the wierd barrel lengh :)

Ah cool, will take a look thankyou, if the entention is flush with the existing barrel then thats fine.

What kind of 'custom' barrel? They're almost always in generic lengths.

I honestly dont know, i breifly took it all appart and temporarily re-assembled for yesterday.

I would agree but its certainly not 260mm, the closest i have seen so far is a 247mm and a 229mm.

Will report back later once i take the actual lengh.

For the work involved in cutting the barrel, i may get a 1-2" extention. Atleast it leaves me more options for the future.

The moral of the story is, dont mess with hight pressure infront of women :P

You also probably drained between 5-10%+ of the tank. Whoops.

Had fun doing it  .

Was only a split second, but either way its only being used for testing the kit post installation.

also the local scuba shop is 5 minutes away :)

Hey all, good day as the kit has finally come.

BUT there is a complication, the kit is not going to fit.

Already contacted tony and awaiting a response.

The trigger box fits snug but leaves no where near enough space for the valve to fit into the back and Mis-aligns with the rear pin.

Also the bolt cannot go all the way forward as the charging handle stops it.

Any ideas or suggestions ?

Will add pics when I get on my pc.

?

Buy a donor that is compatible with DG?

I thought you knew from the start the WE 416 requires a bunch of extra machining to get right. Only a handful exist right now. Did you really not check the FAQ like I said :S? The 416 isn't listed there.

Well that was he entire reason for getting the 416 I did have a look around and very little was said about it.

I also spoke to tony and he also confirmed that it would be fine.

I knew material removal was part of the job but the only way to get the valve in is removing material from the back witch instantly destroys the buffer tube stopper.

I'm going to look how well the receiver will take destruction, in the mean time I will also look at receivers that will take this better.

Any recommendations ?

Hmm

Did he? Hm. I remember reading on the DG page that they require significant modification. Well, he certainly knows more than me so I'm not sure what's up with that.

Ok so after contemplating my next move, i will start destroying my receiver as paint gracefully demonstrates.
Photoshop pro !

Red = removal for valve.

Yellow = removal for feed.

Also been looking at the Ra-tech forged receivers as a backup.

Cheers

Oh, that's standard modification heh. You made it sound as if the whole thing was a big surprise. Most builds need the grip area drilling at a minimum for the macro line. May want to ask Tony to update that FAQ with the WE 416.

Yes and no, i knew about everything else except the rear mill down for the valve. I didnt expect it to be easy, all good fun. B) He also kindly sent me some images of a past 416 build and pretty much the same thing was needed to be done.

They do exist. He just never updated the FAQ - they're even on his website and stuff.

Having some fun working on the hopup as thats the only thing i can do for the moment :)

Profrinl, did you say you have any derlin ball's spare ?

Will get a derlin ball ordered if not, im sure that lug screw cant help rubber after a few 1000 rounds.
