Good evening all,

I am currently rebuilding a Star L85 and have noticed that I am missing a part from the gearbox. The part I am missing seems to be what pushed the microswitch once the trigger is pulled. I have tried looking online and cannot find either the part I am missing or a replacement/donor gearbox.

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction as to where I could find parts.

Many thanks in advance

I believe STAR rebranded to Ares, right? Might be worth looking into Ares L85 parts and if they're compatible.

I have no idea if they are, but I do believe that's what they rebranded to?

I did read that this was the case but I checked all Ares parts and still couldn't find any matches. I am coming to the conclusion that there is no parts for these out there but it'll be a shame for it to not be fixable since it's only 1 small part and a spring missing.

I know the part you mean (believe its called the trolley), unfortunately im not sure if there are any still about, and im not sure if the current ares l85s use the same method to actuate the trigger in the gearbox, having never taken one apart.

It may be possible to modify the other trigger parts to work, specifically the external plate that usually moves the trolley, the one attached to the trigger bar on the outside of the gearbox. That part is also sprung, and potentially you could macguyver an extension to the part that goes inside the gearbox to actuate the switch, though obviously this would have no engagement with the cut off lever, and therefore you'd only have full auto. Other than that its a case of either finding an old spec ares or star donor gun, or finding someone with the part who could get it measured or scanned for 3d printing perhaps.
