Quick Questions & Simple Answers.

Can anyone recommend me a good sight for my rifle? I've looked at the WE 881 holographic sight and Aimpoint T1 sight so far. Has anyone had experience with these? I'd say my budget is about £50 :D
551 replicas are good for limited rail space, but you can't fit rechargeable batteries in 'em. I'm not so sure that the WE one would be any better than any other Chinese manufactured clone, like this for eg which is cheaper. But if a 552 will fit, that is what I'd get, because it will take rechargeable AAA batteries. At some point in the future you could also add an EOLAD laser fitted cover to either a 551 or 552, although tbh except indoors they are strictly for the coolsies because they're no use outdoors.

The T1 on a high mount is currently the height of fashion but, unless you can get it fairly close to your eyes, the fact that it is small and a tube, as opposed to a simple window, cannot but put a fairly sizeable chunk of blind spot on your dominant eye, which for sure will be compensated for by the brain filling in based on what it gets from your other eye, but i'm not sure that's adequate when you're looking for camouflaged opposition in bushes at 60+ metres.

Thanks a lot for the quick recommendations! I'll look into these sights more and will order one soon! :)

hi guys how important are gloves? and is a helmet or a full face mask better

Gloves are very important. Not only they protect the fingers from shots, they protect you when laying down, climbing through things, or going through bushes.

I don't like helmets, and I don't like too bulky face protection either. Get a mesh mask, and eye protection, a shemag scarf and some cap IMO.

Absolute newbie here, is there some sort of glossary/term list anywhere for me to read so I don't have to google every term I don't know individually?

Thanks for that, I was reading a part of that list earlier on!

Just this moment read the following (I've guessed a few, but still unsure of what the following mean/relate too):

TM / WE gas pistol

DMRs

"They take 100% tm parts"
TM - short for Tokyo Marui, manufacturer of high quality (and price) airsoft weaponry (among other things) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_Marui

WE - another manufacturer of airsoft weaponry. Quite a name in the gas blowback market but making significant inroads in the electric market too http://www.weairsoft.com/

DMR - Designated Marksman Rifle basically the weapon of a soldier fulfilling a role partway between sniper and infantryman http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designated_marksman_rifle

"they take 100% TM parts" - Tokyo Marui were the first to design a number of parts for airsoft (the hop up unit for example) so many other manufacturers have copied them This means that many airsoft weapons being based on Tokyo Marui designs will take Tokyo Marui parts which can be better than the manufacturers parts as the copies are usually produced to a lower cost. Often a phrase applied to sniper rifles based on the Tokyo Marui VSR10.

So I'm going to start to develop a loadout and I've found a plate carrier that I like and it looks like a good PC to build up on as it has plenty of velcro and MOLLE webbing straps. (http://www.military1st.co.uk/fy-vt-m001-od-flyye-fast-attack-plate-carrier-gen-1-molle-olive-drab.html). I really like the look of olive (drab) plate carriers but I don't want a loadout completely olive camo based, so is there any other camos that would perhaps 'go well' with an olive PC? Multicam? Woodland? Any help and opinions are appreciated! :D

You can use any camo you want, dependant on what kinda loudout your going for or if your trying I copy a certain military group. For example as far as I've seen pmc loudouts are always block colours of mainly tans or blacks

Yeah I've done a little more searching on the net of inter and I think that an olive drag plate carrier will go well with an A-Tacs FG loadout, so I'll probably begin to develop that :)

Edit: I've had a slight change of mind and am maybe going to purchase a WAS Elite Ops DCS OD plate carrier soon...

You can wear OD gear on top of just about any camouflage except Kryptec Typhon or any of the blue urban camos. It even looks good on top of plain black.

Yeah I guess so. It's too expensive for me to just go out and purchase a full loadout, so this loadout will probably take a few months to complete. I'm going to get my olive PC soon so whilst I'm saving up for other clothing, i'll probably just wear a black hoodie and olive coloured jeans underneath it. ^_^

Surplus DPM's are always a good stop gap - you should be able to get shirt and kecks off fleabay for £20 or less posted. Always good to have as spare too, for times when you may want to be on the 'green team' when a game is divided into green or tan camo types for ID instead of armbands. Plus you'll be able to lend 'em to a mate at some point when they see fb pics of you looking sub zero 'in combat'... :)
