Correct, it's described in the email as a "commercial decision" to discontinue their lines. If I wanted to be charitable, most of the offerings weren't on that home office list. However a certain design based on an Italian firm's products was included in the ban list, was among the offerings of the sale (Both in black and blue). Not very good behavior.

I'm on the fence on this, obviously i get why kit like this gets banned due to the criminal element exploiting them, but ive always wondered why they're so popular amongst a section of the law abiding general populace ?. 

Its not like there's a lot of opportunities to use them, safe places to fire them without inviting unwanted attention, so for most they'll be wall hangers or paperweights, in which case they should never come to the attention of the authorities , so i wouldn't lose any sleep over the ban.

Basically any time you want a really loud bang out of a gun but no risk of an Alec Baldwin incident.

Obviously im aware of the legitimate uses for blank firers, im not exactly thick as lol, but i reckon a majority of those sold are to private owners with no intention of participating in the scenarios you mentioned, so a retailer offloading their stock at sale prices isn't necessarily a dodgy move imho.

Had a guy come to our club a few months ago who still had 3 air cartridge guns, he hadn’t heard about the ban which was many years ago. He handed them into the police, they just took them & made no fuss apparently.

I mean, a lot of people who go to LARPs, etc are private owners innit. Also sometimes used to scare birds, one of my old jobs used to have a guy go up on the roof and fire a few off to scare the gulls away.

Plus some rich bastards have nice, big gardens where they don't have to worry about bothering their neighbours, and much like Airsofters, a lot of them buy the shiny thing, fire it twice, then hang it on the wall for 17 years.

Agree, & imnot advocating lawbreaking, but just like rif ownership, common sense & responsibility needs to be used to ensure they're not misused, anyone who doesn't do that, whether its blank firers, airsoft, air rifles etc, deserves everything they've got coming to them, my only worry there is they don't take us down with them.

@novioman regarding the guy with the, im guessing Brocock revolvers, he, & & anyone like him should be compensated, if they've been honest enough to hand them over, they shouldn't be left out of pocket for doing so, for once it would be a positive use of public funds, rather than the absolute bollocks they usually squander it on

The truth is, I would probably rarely have an opportunity to fire any blanks even if I did have one. Plus I was always reluctant to pay so much for the good ones.

IIRC post snowdrop petition there was a spate of 'robberies' whereby gun safes got "emptied by thieves" and paid out at insured value by house insurance rather than acceptance of the pennies on the pound offer that was being made for legally held handguns.

I was given some blank firing reps a while back, someone i knew found them in the loft while having a clear out. So i contacted kent plod, cos i dont like blank guns anyway but i wanted to know if they wanted to take them. The guy on the chat bot thing must have had a heart failure when i said i had two peacemaker type things and an AK looking rep. 

Well, i say AK looking rep, if you got a 7 year old to draw an AK, thats what it looked like.....

So plod turn up, the first bloke, nice enough as he was had ABSOLUTELY no idea what he was looking for and was just there to wait for the ARU that was on its way. 

After a cuppa and a chat, the ARU lads turned up, had a look, told me they were fine (albeit they looked down the gas tube of the AK, which kinda made me chuckle) and i could keep them. 

I didnt want them. NEITHER DID THEY!!! LOL.

SO i did the only thing i could think of and gave them to the site i play at so they could either use them in a game or cut them up into scrap.

Still got the ring door bell shot somewhere of the two ARU guys with very nice Glocks, standing at my door.
