Probably from a part of the world where the average take home pay is less than 10% of the UK equivalent,  so to him if he throws out enough "hooks", one bite will elevate his standard of living considerably, & if he gets a few ?, he'll live like a king.

While despicable, you can't blame them for trying, maybe blame the idiots who enable them by falling for their spiel. 

 
He might have had better luck if they read the adverts they were messaging about... I was told his fiend had a Sig.... Which is a shame as I was looking for something completely different
