Evening all.

So I have moved to Dorset and my son and I are looking for new sites to play at. Having come from Bucks where we could use our DSR which are 450FPS. It looks like many here are either 350 or 425.

I am near Shaftesbury but happy to travel for 60-75 minutes to find a site that will welcome us with our stuff.

Any advice, guess if we cannot find anything we need to dial down our FPS.

Cheers.

Cheers Colin, I have been through quite a few. Was looking for personal recommendations too. We usual play at Absolute Airsoft which is a great site and great people but its too far to travel now.

Out of interest, what are the pros and cons of the DSR?

It's the Ares gas sniper right?

No adjustable valve or the like to control the power output?

swap out the spring

I believe we're talking about the Ares DSR-1, which is a bolt-and-gas gun.  That's a peculiar one, it'd be very much down to individual sites how they'd class that, whether it's bolt (as it has one) or DMR (because the bolt pull will be super-light - I've seen gas "bolt" guns where the bolt pull is a one-finger operation).

Either way, I'd be thinking in Joules, not (0.2g) FPS, given that I have no idea how much a long barrelled gas gun would Joule creep when running heavier BBs.

What gas are you running it with?  Have you tried lower pressure gas?

Joys of gas sniper rifles is a super smooth and light bolt.

My M40/m700 is so so so smooth, but too pretty and finicky for me to use on game days.

But I personally would say its a BASR + can be upper joule limits.

Man, it's such a niche rifle that there's no adjustable valve options.

It doesn't even have an inbuilt flute valve.

If the FPS is too hot and there's no adjustable power valves, the first thing is to try Duster gas instead of green gas if you haven't already done that.

Then apart from DIY adjustments that i have no clue how to do, you could be a bit cheeky and just swap for a shorter barrel, but be careful of the greater joule creep even if the site dosen't measure by joule or account for it.

even if the site dosen't measure by joule

I mean, that's a good reason to not play at a site.  But then I'm surprised that the sites in question are apparently wanting a bolt-gun to come in at under 1.88J ("450fps") to begin with.

Wait, unless... are these CQB sites?  ?
