GBBR thoughts...

Mind if I join in?

I have about the same budget and new to GBB but really want to give one ago I just don’t know what to go for.

I’ve been told the H&K stuff made by Umarex or WE are the same, just branded differently?

Im confused as to why the MP5s are more expensive than some of rifles out there.

I like the Idea of an AR style rifle but is there any good ones for about £500?

I just want something that is good and will last.

Umarex is a rebrand company. Their H&K GBBR are made by VFC which are considered a higher quality over WE. £500 can get you a decent GBBR however if you want to use them in a game you need 5 to 6 mags and they start at £50 and up depending on manufacture. So a practical GBBR budget starts at around £700. Also even the high end guns require regular maintenance and are much more likely to break than an AEG. You also need to think of a GBBR will suit you. 5 GBBR mags can hold about the same number of BBs as 1 mid cap you have to chose your shots and full auto is pretty much out the window so any hire player will a single high cap can out gun you. I personally only use a GBBR for single shot indoor CQB. I tried outdoors got very frustrated and had to go back to the safe zone to grab an AEG after half an hour as I had reloaded my mags twice was out of BBs and our if gas.

Fair points there mate,

I was really just wanting one for the more realistic feel, but yeah using them when everyone one else has high caps isn’t the best idea.

I have noticed most of the nicest guns Umarex makes are rebranded.
a lot of their own stuff seems to cut corners and details that kind of feel like a waste.

Because MP5's are SO FRICKIN' COOL

Lol, I’ve seen the G3s for £400 but the MP5s are like £600.

I just use one of these with the adaptor super glued on . Takes a little practice to get the angle onto the feed lips right, but then it's quick and easy to reload. And there are enough BBs in it to refill 5 mags if needed.

Yes you can definitely play with just a couple of mags and a speedloader, it adds some extra jeopardy to the proceedings, makes it more exciting ?

I bought a specialised adapter from eBay for my VFC 416 mags.  I think it made loading slightly easier.  Of more importance is the quality of the speedloader.  The cheapest ones won't even feed BBs reliable through their own mechanism.  The slightly better ones will struggle to push BBs against a strong spring.  The best ones work as you'd hope.  I have one like that, but damned if I know what brand it is.

I believe the g&g speedloader is rated very highly, I've not bought one yet but it's on my shopping list!

I use a TM XL speedloader with the built-in pistol adapter, with works a treat with MWS mags. I also use an Odin for AEG M4 mags.

I do have the AirTac MWS adapter for the Odin, but still favour the TM loader.

I imagine it'd work with VFC mags too, using the pistol adapter.

I've been using one of the GHK speedloader adapters glued on to a generic loader for my VFC mags, works a treat. I'll need to swap it around to a new one soon though as the loader is on its last legs after years of use ?

Yup, same here

I always have a couple of these spare.

I got a friend to 3D print me an adapter for my Sidewinder loader, it works after gentle filing, just sounds really “crunchy”

Just ordered an adaptor that fits the WE GBB mags from fleabay.

That's some pressure... I presume its absolute pressure, propane is 135 psia.
