Was wondering that too. Kinda defeats it's purpose.

TLDR is better grip to pull them out of pouches without having a loop which can get caught on things/adding length to the mag which can be a twat when prone. The purpose of a magpul is to make getting mags out of pouches easier, so they're still doing their job without the loops.

I love my MP9, it's kitted out with TNT internals and lifts .48g BB's so I use it has a lightweight primary in the summer. 

Was wondering that too. Kinda defeats it's purpose.

I like having something to grab but find the loops get in way. Cutting them off means I have a ridge to grab on to when drawing the magazine without all the extra material. Personal preference
