Trying to get into Airsoft.

Hello I'm namaco, 17 years old, 18 in 4 months polish guy living in UK for 5 years now

I always loved airsoft since I was a kid back in my home country as even small kinds were allowed to buy little sh*tty airsoft pistols, I was always into military as my family tree is back to my grand grand father was German fighting Germans in Poland, my godfather and more probably so I kind of have that "DNA" of liking military. I wanted to join the army but due heath issues I couldnt.

So I remembered about airsoft but since I came to UK the laws were very harsh on the airsoft buying so yea I have never been in airsoft match but I would love to one day, so I found about this website as a airsoft community or sort of!

Just few question as a new airsoft player wannabe:

1. What age do you have to be to buy a airsoft correctly? I'm not sure if its true but you can buy a two toned colored gun if you are below 18 or un-registrated with ukara? I guess I could be wrong, I need to be 18 to buy any right?

2. Are there any airsoft sites in Surrey?

3. Any major big sites that sell WW2 weapons and clothing? I am really into WW2 style.

Welcome to the forums.

You'll not even be able to buy two tones at the moment, unfortunately. You need to be 18 or older to buy any kind of airsoft gun, two tone or realistically coloured.

You could get a parent to buy you a two tone though, but since you're 18 in 4 months, I'd say just wait a bit, go and play your 3 games to get your UKARA registration and then once you turn 18 you'll be ready and set up to get buying realistic guns, you could work on getting your WWII clothing and kit in the mean time.

As for WWII specialist shops I can't really be much help because I've never really looked for anything, just have a browse around, I'm sure you'll find some stuff somewhere, might even be worth looking in the sales section of these forums.

I can't help with finding a site in Surrey either, but there's an airsoft map online somewhere - I can never remember the web address, just google "airsoft map" and see what comes up, there's thousands of sites all over the place so there's bound to be one close enough for you to get to.

I'd say just make a trip down there one weekend, check their website to see when they're open and give it a go! Talk to the people running the site in the breaks to get more info and talk to the other players too, airsofters in my experience are a very friendly bunch.

So if I am 18 I am allowed by law to buy two-toned weapon right?

I guess I will have to wait 4 months either way as you said go and play, do the sites do weapon renting or something like that?

Gotta say the law is weird allows playing below 18 but disallows buying below 18 heh

1) You can get a gun GIFTED to you...i.e. your parents buy one two-toned, because they are 18+. They can then GIVE it to you as a present...you must not pay them back, or it becomes illegal.

2) Plenty, just google "Airsoft skirmish Surrey"!

3) Don't ruin WW2 with two tone! At least wait until you are 18 with a defense to buy one! (Re-sale value is very low, plus would look even more out of place! But I suggest you just find a WW2 gun you like and google "airsoft.... M1 garand...etc" (I am no WW2 expert!)

Thanks to that map I found that Airsoft-Ed told me I found one very close to me!

But I am still a bit lost with one thing :-| I wouldnt want to look like a idiot going to one because I have no idea how it works, you see as it says you need protective wear and clothing that fits the airsoft, but you change before u get there or in there (skirmishes)

You can wear whatever you like - some people will just wear a dark trousers and top but others will go for a specific look with either woodland camo gear , urban camo and so on.

Your best bet is to book in at your local site for a day and see what others use and don't worry about it. Airsoft tends to be very friendly and the other players will be happy to talk to you about different guns/gear.
