Hi,

New to airsoft (kind of) and looking for my first gun, Ive looked on the budget gun thread and narrowed it down to two guns.

Would like to know your opinions, Mostly on the brand (construction, reliability, performance etc.)

CYMA, oh CYMA. Solid M14s and AKs (had an AK-74M and I loved it), that will last a hell of a long time given the right care. Their other stuff is a little bit hit-and-miss, particularly their M4s I'm afraid. Ares just charge that much for the gimmicky EFCS - the trigger response is great but again, the gearboxes can be a bit dodgy. For that price range I'd recommend an ICS or even a G&G.

Cyma make fantastic ak's, the cm028 series is great

Love my area vz58 (uses the ameoba gearbox) trigger response is epic :)

I echo HSCtheta7. Cymas can be great but their M4s are not there yet. They are not exceptionally bad, just there are better alternatives.

Go A&K (sometimes rebranded as P&J from Poland) if you can.
