So I was reading the rules of the sales section...

IF’s and RIF’s within the legal limits. The legal limits are as follows:
- 370 for full auto systems
- 450 for semi auto systems
- 500 for single fire systems

I might have got it all wrong. But as I understand it, fully automatic "air weapons" are limited to 1j, which is 370fps(?). Semi automatic air weapons are limited to 7j before you need a license for a rifle and pistols are banned. Hence 450/500fps, which is considerably lower than 7j would not be legal limit at all?

So yea... have I misunderstood something?
 
had a look and i cant actually find the law which determines the power of airsoft weapons, can only find air weapons which are crazy powerful apparently.

anyone know where this law is??

 
The only laws I know of are related to air weapons and its 6J of a pistol and 12J for a rifle. There isn't as far as I know any allowed automatic fire air rifles/pistols. I don't think those limits are actually legally defined, I think they are the limits all sites will be under.

 
Only thing I can remember about limits was something I read involving UKAPU and it was ages ago so can't remember exactly what it was but the figures above do ring a bell

 
There isn't anything written in legislation to cover 'airsoft' weapons, as they are not defined within legislation; airsoft weapons are either classified as IF or RIF depending on their manufacture or physical appearance.

I can't seem to find the legislation which covers air weapon power either at the moment...

 
I looked into this a while a go and IIRC they test the 6/12 Joule limit with a steel projectile that is significantly heavier than .20g

 
Can't remember where I read it but I believe that anything under 1j is considered a `Toy' and perhaps therefore the need for the VCRA as these `Toys' can look very realistic.
