“TEAM” Issues! ?

Who can relate on this topic?

I’ve been part of a team, that failed due to a number of reason (Mentioned in Passion for Airsoft!), I’m currently in one which has been off and on for 2 years roughly! 

The team was formed of like minded people, but like any team, time makes and brakes them! 

Some of us go regularly to other sites, we mention on the group chat who's interested?

Some people you get on with more than others. I RESPECT the fact if you can’t make it due to work commitments, personal, etc. So it’s always GREAT when you see a familiar face in a while! ?

My main ISSUE, is when someone in the group who is complaining about getting the “TEAM”, back together, now it’s not a bad thing, but here is the TRUTH!

If you keep putting the info on the chat and pics and you very rarely respond, you criticise and complain about certain topics, are you a “TEAM PLAYER”!?....

Here’s what I think:

1) This person needs to COMMUNICATE in a POSSITIVE WAY, to get a better response! 

2) GET INVOLVED, with more of the above and most importantly SHOW UP! 

3) DON’T COMPLAIN IF YOU CAN’T DO IT.... OTHERWISE FIND SOMETHING ELSE!!! ?

I think this all comes down to the nature of the chat!

To use ours as an example, a friend and I set up a group chat with approx 15 people in there at the moment. Of those 15, we've had 10 people go to a single game - our record - and before then we had on average 3-4 people going to games (sometimes more, sometimes less)

From our perspective that's fine! The group is a group of like-minded airsofters who like to play together. If people can make it, great, if people can't that's OK as well. We do try to encourage people to turn up if they can though, because it's a laugh. The chat is a great way to share info and news on interesting sites, like a mini forum.

I think in your case, if you're focused on getting a higher, mandatory level of attendance, I would recommend starting another group chat and getting like-minded people in there. That way you can lay down some ground rules from the start so everyone's on the same page, and it gives you a good enough reason to go "yo, you haven't been for the last 6 months, if you want you could join this other chat we run - we prefer to keep this one for active players"

I am on a whatsapp with 18 (iirc) players/friends.... some go play a lot, others not much. I don't mind and this year I haven't been able to play much due to life changes. I don't begrudge anyone for not attending and some people who do attend are often quiet on the chat. Some people are just like that. We age from about 20-65 (a guess, never checked as it doesn't really matter). When we do meet it doesn't matter if it's a full team or just a few of us. It's not a competition and there's no money envolved, it's just fun. I don't expect anything from anyone, I'm just pleased when who can make it does. There's no pressure.

Here’s what I think:

1) This person needs to COMMUNICATE in a POSSITIVE WAY, to get a better response! 

Make's sense.

2) GET INVOLVED, with more of the above and most importantly SHOW UP! 

As long as they're positive and you enjoy games with them; if they can make a few or a lot of games it doesn't matter. If they can't ever make any games there's little point being in the chat I guess.

3) DON’T COMPLAIN IF YOU CAN’T DO IT.... OTHERWISE FIND SOMETHING ELSE!!! ?

If someone can't accept others then they're only in it for themselves and speaking from a previous experience such players find themselves removed from the chat. Acceptance & undertsanding is key.

I am not too keen on the idea of "teams" in airsoft. It makes it sound way more serious than it is. I suppose there is a place for it, there are the north vs south games and various other site tournaments etc but when a "team" turn up for a skirmish in matching gear, camo, patches and checking their comms giving it the "delta mike zulu 3 come in" I just laugh.

Like most I have a group of mates I play alongside, we even made a patch, but that was silly naivety, we are not a team, we are not organised, we certainly do not train, we are not serious, hell when game on gets shouted I run off and hardly ever see my mates until we are back in the safe zone.

This works for me. I guess others like to be organised, and I can see the benefit from it. It would be nicer if most sides in a skirmish were slightly more organised and worked as a team but in a normal skirmish day it wont work, as others on here say often "I paid my money to play so I will play MY way" and thats 100% fine!! 

I guess proper teams make it more serious and competitive than it needs to be. Its glorified Nerf wars at the end of the day!

TL/DR version;

Teams are good for competitive games, otherwise you look silly in your matching camo talking in acronyms on a normal skirmish day
