Talk me into/out of buying a novritsch pistol

Thinking about grabbing a Novritsch pistol (SSP5 or SSP28) to use as a sidearm in woodland, but also maybe as a main for CQB. I’ve already got an AAP-01 and thought about putting in some upgrades (tti scorpion kit) but by the time I finish it, it will be a money sink and no guarantee it would be better than something i can just pick up online. I like the idea of something snappy and reliable out of the box, but I’ve seen mixed stuff about Novritsch quality and proprietary parts.

Anyone here using a Nov pistol as their CQB primary? Worth it? Or should I just keep building the AAP. (other suggestions are welcome, i do like a 2011 and im not ruling anything out.

Like, an AAP-01, man.  Actually the AAP-01C Shinobi.

What does your AAP not do that you'd want it to do?

Mine has a Maple Leaf rubber, and a [checks emails] Maple Leaf barrel as well, mostly just because I had an extra 1cm or so to play with after adding an adaptor and tracer unit (indoors) or loudener (outdoors).  It's not laser beam consistent, but it rarely produces a wild shot.  Given the fixed slide, a DIY TDC mod would be my next port of call: just drill, measure - oops -  just measure, measure, drill, tap, and grub screw.

I used my AAP pretty much stock for aaaaaaaaaaages. Swapped the hop rubber for a Flamingo and put in a Hadron H plate and it shot great. Sears will hold up as long as you don't flick it to full auto and start spraying full auto everywhere. I eventually upgraded everything, but with a simple hop rubber and h-plate upgrade for like... £15, it shot really well for a long time.

I know a guy with an SSP5. It's fine and will do the job, but my AAP shoots better

You are both right to be fair! I should just run my aap, I really like the mamba/scorpion uppers with the hole for the tdc. In all fairness I haven’t given the aap enough time in games as of recent, and maybe dismissed it too early! 
 

I’m extremely ADHD with projects, I’ll start it, get bored and see the other shiny thing and be drawn towards that but I shall persevere ?

i really like the look of that! this is my issue  not many guns i find ugly, and if i do i want them because they are different. My wedding fund doesn't like this hobby, neither does the missus!

You have to hide it from her and suddenly bring it out to work on it and say "oh this one has been tucked away for ages and didn't fancy playing with it before, didn't suit my kit" 

Mine has no idea I've recently acquired a WE Apache, pair of Mac 11's and a sand viper ?

i wish i could do that, i have all my kit out at the moment, and because she plays tarkov she knows EXACTLY what i have  I thought having the other half play games would help me, its been nothing but grief

There's mistake number 1, never get all the kit out and she'll never know ? Now you need to find a way to smuggle the new bits in without her knowing, maybe someone at your local site was "leaving airsoft" so sold stuff off cheap ??‍ 

It's still finding it's way to me sadly, very excited for it as I've wanted one for a while now and got a banging deal on it!

A chap at our local site had one of the new SSP28s, with the little nov folding stock attached the other week, and let me have a go. To be fair, very impressive. Doesn't really do anything that the AAP can't do of course - but then 90% of my collection of guns doesn't do anything meaningfully different from the first 10% that I acquired. But that's not really the point is it!

I've only got a couple of Novritsch items - an SSX 303, and one of the goggle fan things.  Both are good bits of kit, that have been well thought out. Not spectacular, but good.

I know Colin's very fond of the ASG, I'm also very fond of the VFC Glocks, and just bought CO2 mags to go in them. Upgrades are plentiful, and just a barrel + bucking will give you a good improvement for very little money. Running an 18c full-auto on CO2 is great fun!

Other than that i have a CO2 KWC/Umarex USP which i really like but there are no off the shelf upgrades and the trigger bar is a well-known weak point. Shoots really well and a strong sharp kick.
